EUFC Club Secretary denounces Ticket Price Rise

Loose

Recommended Posts

In a post today on the "Official" EUFC Forum Club Secretary Roly Edwards said:-

"I feel that this increase is too high for all the reasons already stated. What dissapoints me most from a personal perspective is that several around the club were asked for their views on this by the CEO in order that a balanced perspective could be presented to the MYFC members. I am afraid to say that none of my views were incorporated into the article, hence a heavily biased view toward this increase endorsed by the CEO and Society Board.

I am also dissapointed to see that only 862 members have voted for this increase, but I guess that this is the world our club now lives in."

I am afraid that may not be completely accurate David as the progress of votes is known to MyFC Officials and not too far a stretch to guess that Club Officials would be kept in the loop as one of the MyFC Society Board has already stated that this happens.

And of course you believe everything that they tell you.

I believe very little that this particular one says however I know from experience that it happens. To aid you though this is a question asked on the MyFC Forum recently :-

"why do the board need to see the votes in progress?"

And the reply from SB Member "Arithon" (Paul Charnock) was:-

"Its very useful in fact.

In this case we need to prepare a season ticket vote based on the result of the current one and get it out straight away. Having a reasonable idea of the likely result helps a lot in getting work done early without the lekelihood of doing a load of stuff based on a guess and then just tearing it all up if the guess is wrong

Also it is useful in discussions with the CEO and others if there is a bit opf a heads up on how a vote is going as this helps forward planning.

Most important of all is to see how many have voted. Despite the spy novel type concerns above, the main concern of the board is that people vote at all rather than what tthey vote."

Its up to you whether you believe what he says, as I said I normally don't, but on this ocassion I can quite believe the self serving drivel.

...though you will often find that when the gate price goes up, so does the programme, AND so does the burger AND so does the drinks in the bar.

What is referred to as a classic 'Catch-22' situation !

Everyone moans about increased prices. It's part of the British culture.

I can remember 'Er Indoors's Grandad saying many years ago, "If the bl00dy Chancellor puts beer up over 5 bob a pint, I'm giving it up !"

He went to his grave many years later when he'd been paying over a quid a pint !

Concessions 50% off.

Fine if you can afford to pay the money up front! If you are going to find it hard to stump up 2 extra quid a match, you can't afford a Season Ticket!

I originally had very mixed feelings about which way to vote on Ticket Pricing. Now, having seen some of the constructive comments on the Happy Forum and also on MyFC I feel that there could be room to maybe bring in initiatives to help mitigate parts or the whole of the price increase for the loyalty shown by Fleet Fans. What we have to do though is find as many ways as we can to provide added value to Matchday experience and draw in more attendance. So please don't write off the "owners" just yet.

Personally I don't want to see the level of football change for the worse at Stonebridge Road

That's if they don't decide it isn't value for money, but I guess you have to back your masters, rightly or wrongly!

1/ Just because Stevenage do it, it doesn't make it right! Do you really want the Fleet compared with them?
2/ Raise prices for away fans, away fans numbers drop, revenue goes down, so you have to raise the price for home fans(now where have I heard that lately?), home fan numbers drop even more, more loss of revenue!

You really didn't think your answer through, did you?
