Hullbridge Away

First of all who's going??

Second of all I know a good way of getting there for people who are unsure of where Hullbridge is.

We can get a train from Upminster to Romford, train from Romford to Shenfield, train from Shenfield to Rayleigh and then a 10 minute No20 Bus ride from Rayleigh to Hullbridge.

All in all could take just over 1 hour door to door.

Been like that in all the years we have been going down there...seems odd that the turnstile should sited where it is, considering that from a good vantage point you can see the whole game from the bar.

Very handy if you happen to be playing there winter time as it is rather exposed down there.

Ok, info from a local.

Coup is right, the Hawk does a good meal (go there quite a lot0, but you have the extra aggro of the Woodhamites branch line. There is a more "real ale" type traditional grub pub in Battlesbridge called the Barge (just by the Antiques Wharf). This was the pub where the murder victim lay cut up in the boot of the car whilst the killers went in for a pint whilst deciding where to bury the bits of body.

Rayleigh has loads of pubs, but apart from the Hungry Horse (MIM type place)you will need to walk abou 1/2 mile uphill to get to them. If you get the number 20 and stay on it to the end of it's route, you come to the Anchor on the River Crouch.

If you go into Rayleigh don't go into the Half Moon (although it does have a jukebox) or the Spread Eagle in the High Street. Total shiteholes!!

Hungry Horse (Travellers Joy) is probably the best of the lot and is quite near the station. Got a big screen in there which is great for sky football.

Best in the town centre is the Half Crown.

Would have come along to the game if I hadn't have been going to York as quite a few of my mates live in the Rayleigh/Hullbridge area.
