I think Ash reached that stage 6 or 7 years ago? Or maybe that was the last 16. Johnno would tell you if he was about.

A real shame for Merstham, the perfect start.Played OK in very difficult conditions in the first half.Scored early enough in the second to have plenty of time for the winner but seemed to take their foot off of the throttle.VT,Pickering and Consett were all better than Needham and it seems ironic that Merstham should go out. Great effort by Merstham and Camberley, that reflects well on the CCL.

Yeah I've heard of them (vaguely) I knew they had got to the final, it was the same year that Fulham went to Wembley!! But the point of my question was the CCL league in general. Did you go to that fixture? I wasn't born for another 8 years - sorry about that tongue

Not being born is no excuse, your dad should have gone attentat

I was there, but couldn't get a ticket for the Fulham final.

Banstead got to the Vase semis as a Isthmian League team, I think quarters are the best for a CCL team.

Oh, and Tommy Tuite, along with Gordon Davies, the greatest...

I went to the semi final, against Stamford if I remember correctly. Tommy was a great player but Epsom also had Lee and Walker who went on to play for Millwall I think it was.The centre half whose name escapes me managed Cobham in the nineties.

Colne (near Burnley) from the North West Counties League. At Kingsmeadow too. All turned a bit nasty (not just cos we lost!) with alleged racist incidents at the end. Their team ended up being escorted to their coach post haste apparently and I think there was some sort of FA investigation about it all. (May have remembered that wrong though).

Chris Page plays cricket for Sunbury CC and Surrey Over 50's!
I had a long chat with him about that Vase run a couple of years ago.
