Monday's Game at Lewes

Recommended Posts

"Lewes 0 - 0 Ebbsfleet United

Monday 25th August 2008, Fleet visit Lewes in East Sussex for a Blue Square Premier Fixture.

Team Cronin, Ricketts, McCarthy ©, Charles, Opinel, Stone, Barrett (Hand), Long, Akinde (Purcell), Moore, Gash (Ibe), Subs Mott, Hawkins. "

The reason for it are these lines "<SPAN STYLE='font-family : "X-Files";font-size : 36.0pt;text-decoration :blink;'>" if you turn off the blinking text decoration for each line it'll be fixed.

The defence looked sturdy but we had nothing going forwards. I don't see the sense in taking off the man mountains of Gash and Akinde, before continuing to play long ball, but to much shorter strikers. Kezie Ibe didn't really challenge in the air- we should have adapted our style to accommodate the players we had on the pitch.

The referee was atrocious- he and the linesman missed two stonewall penalty shouts after blatant fouls on Luke Moore and Ibe. However, as mentioned, we didn't really deserve to leave with three points. Hopefully this gives us a wake-up call before Oxford and Cambridge and lets us know that just because we pull the big results out of the bag, we can't shy away from the less glamorous games, as in previous years.

All in all not a bad day out.

Negatives:

Poor match - no football - two points dropped - no idea Ref again - never seen a town with so many double yellow lines.

Positives:

Good run down and back 1 hr 15 mins door to door - good food (suggest we send our caterers there to learn how to serve tasty food at a reasonable price - good pub near to the ground (again the food looked good and we had time for 3 pints) - unusual ground but good views - a surreal first had a pee with one of players at half time when Ibe joined us in the gents!

Contact was minimal in Moore's case, and while Ibe's claim was more plausible, neither were really stonewallers. Couldn't agree more with your other points though.
