LEYTON HAVE A NEW WEBSITE

You seem to know an awful lot about me but why should I go into my shell following your way off the mark comments. The reason is that there are unhealthy cliques within the hierarchy at both Haringey Borough and Kentish Town and I was always on the outside looking in, very much like Gavin at Edgware Town, and never really felt like part of the furniture. Edgware FC will be a different kettle of fish as Uncle Urchin is the real deal and I would put my life in his hands as will the other partners and stakeholders we have onboard such as Syd Lexic and Darter.

So where would Kentish Town be playing then if I hadn't got the Copthall Stadium for them however it turned out they were more interested in the cafe which is the focal point of the Club and more important than the football, that's hardly my fault is it.

Out of interest does Mr Batten and Mr Gregory hold positions yet at Leyton or are they still working on worming their way in.

There is a piece on the game on the Non League Today Website, it sounds like you were unlucky to lose:

REPORT FROM THE LEYTON WEBSITE

This was always going to be tough encounter against promotion tipped Ware. They say in football that to win matches you need a modicum of luck but the lady certainly did not shine on the Lilywhites this afternoon. A penalty awarded late into time added on by referee Neil West was converted by John Frendo to give the visitors the winner in what was a very entertaining match, despite some poor decisions by the referee.

From the start Sam Tanner in the Leyton goal was put to the test, Louis Bristow forcing a save in the first 6 minutes and then less than a minute later Bristow set up Frendo to shoot but Tanner saved low on his left. It was a mistake in the home defence that gave Ware the lead, failing to clear the danger of a sustained attack, Frendo was allowed a sight of goal and he fired his shot into the bottom corner beating the outstretched goalkeeper 12 minutes in.

Just past the 20 minute mark Leyton had their first piece of misfortune, when the ball was scrambled off Richard Haywards goal line, it fell to Paul Killick who crashed the ball back at goal only to see the ball rebound off the goalpost. Then Paul Marks made a mazy run into the area only for Ware's impressive left back Michael Bardie to save off the line with an outstretched boot on the half hour. Leyton were getting the measure of their opponents and Steve Brady's incisive run on the wing set Killick to fire just over Haywards goal 5 minutes later.

Early in the second half Ross Edwards denied Barbie a chance and Danny Wolf gave Frendo another opportunity which he fired high. At this point Leyton supporters saw the welcome return of Greg Ngoyi , coming on as sub for Henderson Browne and the stocky forward seemed to add some urgency into the match. It was just past the hour that Leyton got the equaliser, a corner lofted into the area by dead ball specialist James Duncan was dispatched by Killick, for the lanky forwards third of the season.

Moments later it was Duncan again, his free kick found Edwards in front of goal and the big centre half netted with a powerful header, putting his team in the lead. Then it was Ngoyi's powerful run at goal, outpacing the defenders, that almost created Leyton's third but he was denied on the line by the gaol keeper.

Another lapse in defence let Ware back into the game and Laurie Stewart beat Tanner to put the teams level at 2-2 with 17 minutes left and although both teams had further chances it looked very much like the match was going to be a draw which would have been a fair result.

However, nobody had taken account of the referee's timekeeping and it was fully into the sixth minute of time added on that he awarded Ware a penalty, dispatched by Frendo and as he blew for full time almost immediately Ware took the 3 points.

LEYTON: Tanner, Brady, Kane, Smith, Sonuga, Edwards, Marks, Duncan, Browne (Ngoyi), Killick, Mahargan (Jones)

OTHER SUBS: D Thomas, Valenti, R Blackburne.

Leyton were undone by a strong, well organised side last night as the 'Rocks' did not allow their visitors to settle to their normal rhythm for most of the game.

The boys have now faced three of the top teams in the league and have not come out unscathed, with the prospect of another tough game in the FA Cup on Saturday against Brackley Town, a step above us in the league.

However, we need to put this into perspective, a 10th place in the league at this point is not a disaster, many more games to come and the team are still learning and growing.

Losing on Saturday after a fine performance was no disgrace, tonight was not pretty but as long as we take the lessons from the game, it will help us in this seasons campaign.

Leyton exited their first cup campaign of the season on Saturday against Southern League opponents Brackley Town, conceding three goals in the first half and a fourth early in the second.

A Fabio Valenti goal and a penalty converted by Paul Killick in the second half saved a complete embarrassment for the Lilywhites.

A full report is on the website.

The team have time to re-group before recommencing the league next Saturday when we travel to Canvey Island's Park Lane ground to play Concord Rangers. A win is essential to put us back into contention - so no pressure then!

Incidently, Rangers also went out of the cup today 5-0 away at Hitchin Town.

Leyton have now played 4 of the toughest teams in the division, losing 2, drawing 1 and winning 1, as well as drawing higher division clubs in the FA competitions.

However, it is early days and 10th place in the division is not bad for what is basically a new squad, missing Rory Smith, Adam Wallace, Richard Morton, Stuart Blackburne, Denis Maharjan and Kevin Chakaodza.

If you turn up to Park Lane on Saturday afternoon, you'll find Canvey Island's Reserves playing. Concord Rangers play at Thames Road.
