Bullard in England Squad

But he likes to keep his options open. ;-)

"Although English by birth, Bullard has a German grandmother and is therefore eligible for the German national team. In the run-up to the 2006 World Cup, it was reported that Bullard was contemplating an international call-up from the Nationalmannschaft, having made his interest known to the national coach J

I love how Jimmy's given Gravesend and Northfleet a mention in all of the interviews I've seen and read. For someone who's really made it, he sounds so humble and is proud of his Non-League background. It'll be excellent seeing him mixing it with some of Europe's best players if he gets on, good luck to the lad.

Think I'll have to dig out some footage I have of Jimmy Bullard playing for Gravesend & Northfleet.

I'm sure some TV companies will be interested.

As far as I can remember, it was only one game as I was filming for either Enfield or Aldershot Town in those days.

I used to film their Away games as well as at Home, as very few Ryman League clubs had their own club cameramen.

I certainly don't remember anyone filming for G & N before I started ?

I have found a programme for Gravesend & Northfleet v. Aldershot Town on Saturday 9th January 1999 that I filmed (from the front row of the main stand !) and he played in that game.

G & N won 2-1 and from my notes, Bullard was my Man Of The Match.

See the Pat Gradley thread.

Seriously though I will now scour the web, when I should really be working, to see what I can come up with.

Wasn't really a fan then so I wouldn't know but Chas Webster Stu M, Jimmy and Jeff will definitely be able to help you.

Jimmy Jackson was definitely playing then who is our longest serving player and had totalled over 500 games for the Fleet.

For a list of our results for that season see anothers website here

Any ideas?

If you want to do an article with a real human interest angle as well as football, you could perhaps compare and contrast the fortunes of Jimmy Bullard and Bruce Sewell. They played together for the Fleet, and whilst Jimmy has gone on to the England squad, sadly Bruce was struck down with Motor Neurone Disease.

Jackson and Wilkins are at Folkestone Invicta, Adebowale's some kind of male model, Booth is at Havant, Billenness I think at Erith, Dimmock at Cray.

The Smiths, Mitch Crawley, Kirk Dodgson and Phil Dean are probably still knocking about somewhere at low level, and Tony Dolby was in management with Hastings and Tonbridge.

Not all those players necessarily played in the same team as Bullard as they might have joined the squad after his transfer to West Ham, but without checking Jackson and Wilkins definitely did.
