I have a strange feeling...

Recommended Posts

Fixtures GHA, fixtures. The way the AGM went it'll be interesting to find out what the constitution of the league is going to be, let alone who we're playing and when.

They proposed 2 divisions, 1 of 16, the Premier and 1 of 6, the First. The first division to play each other 4 times and play in the Fred Budden trophy.

This was all someting to do with the fact that as a feeder league to the FA for referees, I think that they officiate at premiership youth and reserve team level, they have to officiate at a number of games of a certain standard. Hence the uneven split.

It was felt that a single division of 22 teams was too large and that we'd never fit all the league games in, plus 3 cup competitions. We're also in the Herts Intermediate this season.

4 of the 6 walked out, plus 1 of the 16.

I await developments. However, whatever happens we will be in the Premier next season. The Premier looks very strong, as well as ourselves there's Canvey. Dagenham, Grays, Heybridge, Braintree, Hornchurch...........

Afternoon GHA, the D & R team is, allegedly, an under 19 team combined with players from the Spurs academy.

Plenty of exciting new signings on the horizon, but I'm keeping stum at the moment, a la Cookie. Really it's because I can't remember their names as I might have had a beer or two when VJ told me. Suffice to say there will be a few new faces for pre-season, every one of them quality and most importantly young.

As for friendlies, definitely another one arranged against Sun (under new managment) Sports, plus one or two others that are available at short notice.

Pedantic point regarding Sky Blue kits and Spurs fans:

When Coventry played Spurs in the 1987 cup final, they (for reasons best known to themselves) wore blue and white stripes.

I would have thought that the memory that Spurs fans would have in their heads regarding sky-blue would have been the sight of Manchester City defenders falling over, sliding in incompetently and slipping over as Ricky Villa cut through them to score the winner in the 1981 cup final replay.

/end of pedantic corner
