All Kicking Off On The Tooting Forum

Recommended Posts

Tooting are the biggest tw@ts going to be honest,or at least that's how they cone across.Back in September/October there was a thread on the palace firm site d30 which one of our palace supporting fans found,it was by a tooting fan claiming they had the best firm in non league football and had "run" canvey Hornchurch and many other non

league clubs lol, there was even a you tube clip of 4 plonkers on their way to canvey a year or so ago which was just pure comedy, some of our fans went on there and showed this plum up on the D30 forum and this bloke said he would "sort a ruck out with us " lol but it couldn't be this year as their next away trip was April this year, absolute quality, bunch of divs

Also, speaking of forum rantings, has anyone been on the Chelmsford City Soapbox after their loss to Hampton the other night? :492:

Apparently Chelmsford City FC are also 1.2 million in debt according to a local newspaper article

Really think it's make or break for them this year regarding promotion. If they don't go up through the play offs, they could struggle next year.

This is the Chelmsford City official website statement regarding their accounts:

Chairman Mansell Wallace is delighted to report that the club’s accounts for the year ending May 2011 are likely to break even for the first time in years, which he believes is due largely to the Board’s delicate management in tough economic times.

Wallace is aware of the levels of necessary and manageable debt the club has gathered since returning home in 2006 but is happy that the balance sheet is being carefully managed and the result could be an all-square figure which is almost unprecedented in recent times. Payments are being maintained to a number of creditors, including former Director Peter Stroud, and the overall number is set to continue dropping.

“Our debt was mainly brought about by the cost of building the clubhouse when we made our return to the County Town five years ago,” Mansell detailed. “We have an interest free loan from Chelmsford Borough Council, which they have very generously reduced the monthly repayment on, and we also have loans from individuals which were used to finance the build and furnish of the clubhouse.”

“Some of these loans are being repaid on an agreed monthly figure and some don’t require repayment as the individuals have indicated that they’ll be happy to transfer the debt to shares when we become a Community Interest Club (CIC). The CIC regulator has posed questions that we’re addressing as it’s more difficult to convert a company owned by members than a normal limited company. We hope to be there soon.”

City’s current standing in the second tier of non-league football owes much to the input of a number of key figures who still maintain a financial interest in the club. Mansell was keen to update on their latest situations. He said: “Some money is in loan stock held by Directors and is classed as ‘friendly’ debt that doesn’t require repayment.”

“In addition, Peter Webb has his loan stock tied to a legal agreement that also has it transferred to shares when we become a CIC so no money will be repaid. Peter Stroud was classed as a friendly debt but has loan stock that declares a repayment of the loan. As his personal circumstances have changed he has told us he wants it repaid.”

“It was obviously not in this year’s budget to repay but, owing to his circumstances, we have agreed a monthly figure which far exceeds what he would have been repaid under the loan agreement and we started those in February. Jeff King now wants a repayment of money he also put into the club which we previously believed to be a friendly debt. This is also not in this year’s budget and we are discussing repayment with him.”

These payments continue to chip away at the overall figure, Mansell adding: “Our debt is shrinking now as loans are being repaid and prudent management of the club’s finances show a dividend, so we believe we’ll show our finances are completely under control at the end of this financial year. Obviously if gates fall dramatically it may influence that but all our statutory payments are up-to-date and being paid on time.”

“The accounts have only just been published and sent to Companies House and we will be holding an annual general meeting with members very soon where we can provide a more detailed update. In the meantime I’d like to acknowledge the fantastic backing we are getting from Chelmsford Borough Council, who are helping us in many ways in our quest for promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier.”
