Ryman Premier League Next Season - Predicted Constitution

Recommended Posts

Assuming nobody goes bust over the close season (which I know is a dodgy assumption to make), I reckon next season's Ryman Premier League could look like this:

AFC Hornchurch (Ryman Prem)

Billericay Town (Ryman Prem)

Canvey Island (Ryman Prem)

Carshalton Athletic (Ryman Prem)

Chesham United (Zamaretto Premier Division)

Concord Rangers (Ryman Prem)

Cray Wanderers (Ryman Prem)

East Thurrock United (Ryman Division 1 North)

Harrow Borough (Ryman Prem)

Hastings United (Ryman Prem)

Hendon (Ryman Prem)

Horsham (Ryman Prem)

Kingstonian (Ryman Prem)

Leatherhead (Ryman Division 1 South)

Lewes (Blue Square South)

Margate (Ryman Prem)

Metropolitan Police (Ryman Division 1 South)

St Albans City (Blue Square South)

Thurrock (Blue Square South)

Tooting & Mitcham United (Ryman Prem)

Wealdstone (Ryman Prem)

Wingate & Finchley (Ryman Division 1 North)

With the three clubs being relegated from the Blue Square South all in the Ryman boundaries, I think Bury Town & Lowestoft could well be moved over the Zamaretto Premier Division next season, with Chesham United coming in the other direction.

Thoughts........

Hastings to St Albans - 95.5 miles

Hastings to Bury St Edmunds - 132.8 miles

Hastings to Lowestoft - 166.4 miles

Margate to St Albans - 101.4 miles

Margate to Bury St Edmunds - 138.7 miles

Margate to Lowestoft - 172.3 miles

The likes of Cambridge City, Bedford Town are close to Lowestoft and Bury, so I can see a case for it.

I reckon we may get Hitchin rather than Chesham. Seems a bit of a farce when St Albans is no more than a couple of miles away from Hitchin but are in a different division.

If we get Hitchin, we'll get Arlesey too.

If those two are moved, Soham and possibly Biggleswade should be moved to Isthmian North.

To be honest, I can't see any of that happening. The FA and leagues will probably find a quick bodge, rather than any real changes.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it would simply be Lewes and Thurrock would go into the Isthmian, with St. Albans going into the Southern League. Seeing how Lowestoft and Bury finished the season, they may wish to stay where they are as the general perception is that the Isthmian league is the easier of the two to get out of.

That being said word is, although I haven't looked at the maths myself, with the current state of Rushden & Diamonds' finances, should they go bust and reform in a lower league, Thurrock will be reprieved.

I can see Thurrock and possibly Aveley being reprieved if teams go bust, fold or decide to drop to a lower level.
