Non League Day sold out to pitchero!

I see that Non League Day has sold out to Pitchero.

Perfectly decent company, but surely Non League day should be independant?

Not aware that our club is doing anything - and have not seen many others to be honest. Which is a shame, but selling out and being taken over by a company is hardly in the spirit of it, and will only annoy those clubs that have a dislike for said company. This would be true if they had sold out to anyone else as well.

Sure, get yourself sponsored - but not where it becomes a third party website.

Afternoon all

Just a quick response to the “sold out” comments on this thread.

The running costs of the campaign last year put us several hundred pounds out of pocket. We needed a way of providing a website that would be a central hub of information for football fans, at the bare minimum cost. Pitchero offered to create the website and utilising their contacts in exchange for promoting their services which allowed us meet these objectives. I think it unfair to call this “selling out”. We have received no financial gain from this arrangement, and in the absence of other alternatives it was a sensible pragmatic decision. I am sure if we had thousands of pounds to throw at the campaign we could be sponsor neutral but we don't.

I would also point out that we made several requests for operational help and assistance during the last campaign and in the run up to this, and had a limited response (one company came forward to offer their web services but it was a little too close to the day)

Given we are two volunteers running this in our free time with the barest of essentials, I would be welcome to any sensible suggestions people had. My concern is raising the profile of the non-league game in this country, not who may or may not be branding the website.

Thanks for your time.

Mike

Mike,

Didn't know you were struggling for hosting - if I had you could of had free hosting on our servers. :)

Sorry, I missed the appeals for hosting in the last campaign - heck I can't remember last week, let alone a year ago ;)
