Lost 2-1 they should've been down to 9 when we were 1 up. We had one sent off and a soft peno at the end continues our miserable run in b&b cup. Weak ref making very poor and odd decisions again. 1 of ours and theirs sent off after final whistle, with better ref this stuff just doesn't surface. Attention now on buck town and the league so perhaps a blessing in disguise :-/???

(Redbridge v Dunstable Town)

Redbridge's Billy Sendall goes in the book for a challenge on Roache. A hint of elbow.

Joe Bruce booked for well...very little. Town are not playing like themselves today, tough to play football on a dust bowl though.

Goal '71: Redbridge 1-0 Dunstable Town. Goalmouth scramble. We're trying to play Redbridge at their own brand of hoofball.

Missed pen '76. Peter Holmes.

Red card for Danny Hutchins. We've not played this badly in years!

Subs '78 Grant Carney and Matthew Judge on for Jonathan Cooper and Lee Roache.

Goal '85: Redbridge 2-0 Dunstable Town. Half a mile offside but who's watching!

Matthew Judge booked for rightly pointing out the offside.

Goal '88: Redbridge 3-0 Dunstable Town. We've made a team who would struggle in the SSMFL look like Barcelona!

Shane Wood took a nasty elbow to the head, he's in the recovery position. Not even a free kick let alone a red card.

The stretcher is out for Wood, this just sums our luck up. Boyce set to come on for him.

Full time: Redbridge 3-0 Dunstable Town. Worst performance in years, the players should decline their pay packets.

Struggle in your league ha ha good one,you honestly thought you only have to turn up to win today talk about arrogant lol, maybe if you put your penalty away then who knows what would have happened, unbeaten in your league God knows how lol.

CHIN UP

Saturday 15th October

RESERVE DIVISION TWO

1-5 Crawley Green v Ampthill Town

A report on this game of all games from another's Forum:

Spartan South Midlands League Reserve Division 2

Crawley Green Reserves 1 Ampthill Town Reserves 5

No charge, No prog, didn't partake of the bar's offerings

Crowd: My max h/c was 19

In Hitchin for a meeting, and hadn't planned a game as I expected to be detained too late to get anywhere. As it happened, I managed to get out about 2.40, and Crawley Green Rec was the only ground I was aware of that I could get to in time that I hadn't previously visited, as I had tried to find where their First Team played some time ago. Turned up on spec, and stayed even though it was a Reserve League fixture, and was rewarded with an entertaining game, nothing like as one-sided as the score suggests. Apologies in advance to any purists who don't believe in Reserve Leagues.

Crawley Green Rec, and the Social Club therein would make an excellent venue for higher level football, but I guess that the necessary development is impossible for financial and/or resident reasons. The Rec has 3 pitches, 2 (Football Foundation funded) hard surface 5-a-side, etc pitches and an area that could be tennis courts, the whole surrounded by housing, some of it still being built. The Sports and Social Club is extensive, and was being well used today. The main pitch has two substantial permanent dugouts and is fully roped, but there is no hardstanding or cover.

I found out from the Referee's Assessor which teams were playing, and also that he enjoys his "job" since he retired from reffing (probably many years ago!). He didn't believe that Refs act differently when an assessor is present, but as he said, he doesn't see games when they aren't being assessed! To be fair, I thought Mr Finnie had a fairly good game today, with only a couple of strange decisions and pretty good control without being silly.

The standard was reasonably good, though for the 2nd week in a row I watched a team trying to play football on the ground undone by one who relied on the long ball. Crawley Green had some quite skillful forward players, but they missed several good chances, and were not well served by their defence. It is no good trying to play football from the back if the defence aren't good enough to avoid losing the ball in their own half - they'd be better off humping it up the field. Ampthill scored after 3 minutes from a dreadful defensive lapse, and their lino then opined that he expected goals today would result from mistakes. He was right, with the exception of Crawley Green's they all did! The home keeper was a disaster and responsible for 3 of them - in fact if the teams had swopped keepers, the result could have been reversed - but he wasn't helped by his defenders. The best goal was a scored from an acute angle, and was probably meant to be a cross, and again the defender should have done better.

Despite the level, this was an enjoyable game with some patches of nice football on a beautiful afternoon, and good value for a "pot luck" visit.

Yes thanks.

A bit of a come down from Royston Town v Harefield United, Royston Town v Stotfold and London Tigers v Hillingdon Borough though wasn't it!
