aldershot game

Looking forward to the return match!

Let's hope the ref's better and we get 6 instead of 3! <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue2.gif" alt="" />

Oh and I definitely think you will stay up, but it may be a long season for you.

By far man of the match, outstanding saves.

We were quite good when we had the ball on the floor passing it around, but we just dont look like the side that played exeter, stevenage and hereford. What has happened??

Ref was useless (to put it softly)

Aldershot were head & shoulders above us last night. We just couldn't cope with the speed & mobility of their front runners or the inevitable danger caused by their set pieces.

However, look at Exeter's recent results. Against them, we streaked into a 3-0 lead at the start of the 2nd half of a game where they had initially threatened to murder us. We re-shuffled & dealt with them. Would we have done so with last night's line up?

Must finish by complimenting Terry Brown. Apart from the work he's done on their set pieces, he was the most fair minded opposition manager I've ever encountered. At least twice I heard him loudly berating the ref. on behalf of barmy decisions against our players. It was so much easier to hate Aldershot when Mad George Borg was doing his bit. Now I wouldn't begrudge them - or be surprised by - a place in the play offs.

Exeter 3-2 winners at Barnet last night & 4-3 at Burton last Friday, yet we gave them a right thumping in the 2nd half a couple of weeks ago.

If we'd been able to play Miller, Lee, Owen & the Duke last night? Still Aldershot had players out too. It's a very thin line between looking the business & struggling. We looked good last night until they won their first free kick in a dangerous position & bang we were behind.

Personally,I acknowledge Andy has worked wonders playing horses for courses, but I think sometimes he overdoes the tinkering, viz: Saturday's last second substitution & last night's formation.

Still, I shall be confidently predicting 1 point at least at the North West seaside on Saturday.

Wilko absolutely fab, wouldn't be surprised if he woz playin in 2nd Division in a few years- It'd cost the buyers a bit though!

James Pinnock just failed to impress again, hes a fighter, and itll cum 4 him, but he hasnt gt a strikrs instinct, his first touch isnt al that and he is crap in the air (fair enough hes 5"5') If we get another Rob Haworth well be alrite, as Walshey and Drury wil peak soon, and they need sum1 on the end of their crosses! The drum woz o.k, but I thought it couldv kept goin a ltl longer, and help get behind the boys. THE REFEREES A W*N*E* Up the fleet at Morecombe!

Some of the comments on this board amaze me, and I really do wonder how much the average Gravesend fan knows about football. Blame the referee, blame the midfield, one minute the managers flavour of the month, the next they want him out. The side who drew at Hereford contained one player from last year, so Andy has carried out an excellent re-building job. As for the debate on Walshe, Owen and Drury - I would play them all. Drury, who himself would probably admit he didn't have the best of the games - but who did apart from Shearer and Wilko - has scored two goals in around three full games and probably earnt us two points. Despite some opinions on here I thought Walshe had a good game. Owen has had an excellent start to the season, but I believe has only scored one Conference goal so my midfield would be Drury, Owen, Mckimm, and Walshe. Stop blaming the midfield, and front players it's obvious where our problems lie. To let two or three goals in a game doesn't give us much chance of getting something from the game. Finally let's give credit to an outstanding Aldershot side, who stopped us from playing at our best.

If you have access to TFFC then it would be worth a watch, just for the comments about the ref from Terry Brown....

K Shep!!!!!

What on earth are you on about!

ANY fleet fan can see that without pinnock the ball would fly back at our defence even quicker than it does at the moment. he is the BEST and i mean Best ive seen in a fleet top at holding the ball up and distributing when the space is available! Please watch him at the next game and maybe your opinions will change for F***s Sake!!!!

Yeah, Terry Brown seems like a decent bloke, an honest manager, its always better then those managers whose teams always played crap when they lost or the arsene wengers " i didnt see it!". Also from TFFc you can see that even an aldershot player seems to be having a go at the ref for the 2 bookings.

Have to agree with K Shep. I've seen Pinnock play a few decent games, but I thought he was awful on Tuesday. He certainly tried to hold the ball up, and I was watching him very closely, but every time he ended up losing it, perhaps due to some excellent defending. I'm not over-impressed with Haworth either, although obviously I missed the Hereford match. Great in the air, and not bad at holding the ball up, but his shooting whenever I've seen him has either been non-existent or woeful. Having said all that it's our defence that's losing us games.

Rob Haworth hasn't impressed me either over the last couple of matches with his overall game but isn't he still our top scorer? Didn't we have a player last season who was hardly impressive in any game he was in yet ended up our top scorer? Hint, he nows plays for Margate. If Rob can play like a crippled ferret but still score almost a goal a game then that's good enough for me!!
