Karen - That's really poor isn't it, did you have any warning that this might be coming, it is so early in the campaign too, Amersham Town must be rubbing their hands as they get a walkover in the Challenge Trophy as do Buckingham United in the Division 2 Cup

Wow not even out of August yet.

Savagebee - It's never nice to see a Club go to the wall is it but then if Bury sadly can then so can Grendon Rangers. It's strange as only last Monday the Club's twitter page suggests that nothing was amiss at  Main Street and they were very much looking forward to their Challenge Trophy tie at Amersham Town

I see that Grendon Rangers, as well as Winslow United, featured on the Non League show this week, I don't know whether anyone heard it, what was the reasoning behind the Club's withdrawal from the SSML, I assume it will be carrying on in some capacity:

Mystery still surrounds why Grendon Rangers suddenly pulled out of the SSML back in August, we never did get to the bottom of it at the time did we, new Manager John Kowalyk had only been appointed in early July and the Club had already played some pre-season friendlies, there was no mention or indication whatsoever of any problems or their resignation from the League on their twitter page or website. Why did they wait until 31 August to submit their resignation from Division 2 rather than do it before the campaign began in earnest some weeks earlier although, to be fair, the Club had not played a game as yet. They had however been included in the SSML Challenge Trophy draw resulting in Amersham Town receiving a bye as well as Buckingham United in the Division Two Cup, additionally they had been drawn against Unite MK in the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup and away to Winslow United in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy. Anyway here is an album of Grendon Rangers anniversary celebration held on 25 May 2019, it is nice to see the photos but equally so sad that something went horribly wrong at the Club so soon afterwards:

Definitely did the right thing as last season was a total waste of time now.

Savagebee - Yes, but the Club weren't to know that at the time were they, I gather they still have a Reserve side playing in the North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division but their Website, Twitter and Facebook pages still state that they are 'competing the 2019-20 season in the Spartan South Midlands League Division 2 at step 7'. The Club's history is interesting and it appears they were already formed by 1911 which makes it all the more disappointing that their progression has hit the buffers of late, possibly for financial reasons:

Grendon Rangers - A Brief Club History
The earliest record we have of the team is a photograph taken in 1911 but no detailed records exist until 1947 when, following the war, the club was reformed. We joined the North Bucks & District League (NBL) in 1952-53. When the league formed a Premier Division in 1973-74 we became the inaugural champions and retained the trophy the following year. In 2010 and 2011 we won the Oving Village Cup which is the second oldest continuing football competition in the world (following the FA Cup). Our reserves were promoted twice in the successive seasons 2009-10 and 2010-11 and now play in the NBL Intermediate Division. They also won the Marsworth Res Cup in 2011 and 2012. We have for many years based our club on a youth section and this season have 9 teams in the Witney & District Youth Football League.
Following a successful 2011/12 season in which our first team came runners up in the NBL we applied for membership of the SSMFL and for Charter Status, both of which were successful.

Our adult teams are always grateful for the support of our main sponsors, The Swan Public House, Grendon Underwood and Lodge Garage (Mazda) Kingswood.

Some old Grendon Rangers YouTube footage from 11 November 2017 and a SSML Division Two fixture at Amersham Town, Amersham won 3-1 with goals from Leo Pedro, Bertie Squire-Adams and Jamie Aldred after Grendon Rangers had a player dismissed early on for a scything challenge but then had the audacity to take the lead:

Grendon Rangers produced a really nice old fashioned enamel pin badge which shows they were a forward thinking Club, like I said earlier it makes it all the more disappointing that their progression hit the buffers this season, possibly for financial reasons:

Obviously well after the Lord Mayors Show but photographs from Grendon Rangers v MK Gallacticos in a SSML Division 2 fixture on 22 October 2016 which MK Gallacticos won 4-3. Thame Rangers won Division 2 that 2016/17 season however it was their one and only season in the SSML after arriving the season before from the Wycombe & District Senior League and then departing for the Hellenic League Division One East where they still are:

Photographs from Grendon Rangers v Mursley United at Main Street last term in an early SSML Division Two fixture on 27 August 2018 which Grendon Rangers won 4-3 with two goals from Mohammed Adam, Matthew Ginger and Charlie West, Adam was shown red on 81 minutes by a very pernickety Referee who did his utmost to ruin the exciting contest:

Two very interesting records of anoraks visits to Main Street, firstly on 27 April 2017 for a SSML Division Two game with Loughton Manor and, secondly, against Pitstone & Ivinghoe on 6 April 2015, again in a SSML Division Two fixture:
