The High Press - Episode 36: Unfiltered Football (google.com)

We jump into the crazy world of Non-League football this week with the BBC's Ollie Bayliss. Ollie uses his expertise to present the Non-League Show on the radio and talked to us all about raw football, working on Football Manager, drinking with Managers in the pub and opportunities for development in NL football.

This week's other Non League Show featuring Cheshunt who beat HadIey Iast Wednesday in the Hertfordshire FA Senior Cup FinaI:

The Non League Football Show / 22nd April 2022 - Plymouth Parkway and Cheshunt (audioboom.com)

This week, we talk to a manager who has taken his side from Step 6 to the verge of Step 3 football, with a bumper crowd expected on Saturday along with the Trophy, so he’s hoping they won’t blow it and can enjoy every celebration planned. As you will hear Lee Hobbs is a Plymouth Parkway man through and through and he’s very proud of what the relatively new club has achieved and still hope to continue achieving.
Somebody just as passionate about his football and management is Craig Edwards. It’s just over four years since he took over the reins at Cheshunt and this week they’ve sealed a play-off spot and the local County Cup but now face a final Saturday of the season with a game for nothing ahead of next week’s play-offs.
Our Non League Paper round-up this week is a bumper one. Executive Editor at the Paper Jon Couch helps Tim Fuell look over the Promotion and Relegation permutations across steps 1-3 as well as some of the other talking points in non league this week.

This week's other Non League Show with presenter Tim Fuell :

https://audioboom.com/posts/8074723-29th-april-2022-play-offs-canvey-island-and-peterborough-sports?playlist_direction=forward

It’s Play-Off time in Step 3 and Step 4 with also the inter-step Play-Offs deciding who comes up or who goes down from Steps 4 and 5. We speak with two managers with Play-Offs ahead this Bank Holiday weekend as their long seasons draw to a close.
First up with the Play-Offs starting Friday evening we speak with a manager hoping to continue this side’s current run and secure promotion in that Friday Play-Off in the Isthmian North. Canvey Island gaffer Brad Wellmen is less than a year in the job but has been chalking off milestones every step of the way, can he finish that with promotion.
On Monday Jimmy Dean leads his team into the playoff final for the Southern League Premier Central. It’s seven years since he first took charge with the club in Step 6, two of those were wiped out through COVID so another promotion this time out would be a truly remarkable achievement. Step 2 football he admits would be an even bigger challenge but one he’s keen to give a go-to.
Helping me pull together the rest of the week’s news Matt Badcock Editor at large at The Non League League Paper joins me as we also analyse the final weeks of the National League season.

Hope Ollie grills poison dwarf Lawrence Levy on how come serial chokers St Albans City have failed once more in even getting to the playoffs (7th place qualifies!) having been top of the league before Christmas. How many years has that happened now Larry? 5? 6? The FA and the Conference should have investigated them years ago...

This week's other Non League Show:

The Non League Football Show / 06th May 2022 - Gateshead and Skelmersdale United (audioboom.com)

This week we try to give ourselves all hope. Whether you are wallowing in play-off despair, relegation woes or just mid-table obscurity there's always inspiration in knowing that there’s always hope further down the line. Two clubs that just a few seasons ago were on the brink of never playing again, celebrate the power of the passion of the people behind them and the success of promotion back to where they belong.
First up we chat with Mike Williamson, manager at Gateshead FC who this week wrapped up the National North title just three seasons after their demotion from the National League, putting them back there next season and in a far stronger position.
It was five years since Vice Chairman at Skelmersdale United broke most of our hearts with his emotional interview that suggested his family’s involvement for over 100 years with the club may have to come to an end. Norman Fenney is the most asked about guest we’ve ever had and it’s great to have him back on to tell us about the club thriving at their new home, winning the inter-step play-off to get back to steps 4 and still having a cup semi final to look forward to this weekend.
Rounding off the show is Jon Couch Executive Editor at The Non League Paper as we take a look at the play-off winners, the final rolls of the dice in the National League and what’s to come in this weekend’s paper.

This week's other Non League Show:

The Non League Football Show / 13th May 2022 - Step 2 Play Offs Dorking Wanderers and Brackley Town (audioboom.com)

This week it’s the play-offs at Step 2. We talk to two managers who had their teams top of their respective divisions mid-way through the season but saw their leads clawed back and surpassed leaving them to face the lottery of the play-offs. Both secured second place though so have had the liberty of watching opposition competing in eliminator games this week before welcoming them this weekend in the semi-finals where second place teams take home advantage throughout. Both old friends of the show too, both possibly competing for the longest serving managers in the top two tiers of non league football. Plus, whilst one saw his side concede less than any other club at step 2 this season the other saw his side score more than any other side at Step 2 this season.
First up we chat with Marc White, preparing for a visit of Oxford CIty, he’s philosophical about the play-offs. Promotion was the aim at the start of the season and that’s still on with two home wins all that’s required. With a pretty much full squad to choose from after an injury crisis, he’s also pretty confident they can make it 12 promotions in the club's relative short history.
Also chasing the dream of taking his relatively minnow club into the top flight of Non league is Brackley Town boss Kevin WIlkin. The part-time outfit has competed strongly throughout the season against a gaggle of full-time, big name clubs in the National North this year. York City are one such team their visitors this weekend in the semi-final, where home advantage is making the Town of Brackley very excited, just like their manager.
On his way back from a thrilling Play-off eliminator tie it’s Matt Badcock Editor at Large at The Non League Paper as gives his thoughts on the play-offs and the final round of games in the National League PLUS what’s to come in this weekend’s paper.

This week's other Non League Show previewing the FA Vase FinaI between Littlehampton Town and Newport PagneII Town:

The Non League Football Show / 20th May 2022 - Non League Finals, Littlehampton Town & Boston United (audioboom.com)

A busy week in non league so we start with the Non League paper round-up. Jon Couch helps go through a vast array of stuff including the FA Trophy final, the FA Vase final and the National League Play-Offs which get underway on Monday. Before all that though on Saturday its the National League Step 2 play-off finals as we find out who will join Gateshead and Maidstone United in promotion to the top tier for next season. Plus we chat about some of the many managerial changes and swaps that have happened this week.
Phil Annets gives us the stats on the FA Vase Final with his @FAVaseFactFile hat on and next up is a Chairman of one of those club’s in Sunday's final. Sounding relaxed and ready, Rob McAlees is the kind of Chairman you would think most managers and players would want to work under, they clearly do, as his joint management team seem on point and firmly part of the club and the thriving community at Littlehampton Town hoping to make further history this season.
Back on the show for the second time this season is a manager involved in one of those play-off finals on Saturday, he’s switched clubs since we last spoke and got his new club into the play-offs making history already and now is one game from leading the club to a return to the top level of non league football. Paul Cox has had the necessary impact on Boston United since his arrival in January and with plenty of success and experience on his CV he is confident of a result but also has his feet firmly grounded.

WeIcome back everyone, it seems Iike the Forum has been down for some days. Here is this week's other Non League Show:

The Non League Football Show / 27th May 2022 - Solihull Moors and Non League Paper (audioboom.com)

A slightly shorter show this week as the season draws to a close.
We speak to one of the managers still with football to play. Neal ArdIey has had two weeks to prepare his Solihull Moors side for their Play-Off Semi FinaI on Sunday and he’s as erudite as ever in his assessment of the task ahead. We also have a great round-up of the National League Play-Offs, Non League Finals Day and the Managerial changes this week with Jon Couch of the Non League Paper once again holding TIm Fuell's hand.
