The Non League Football Show

Recommended Posts

Apologies to Karen, this week's other Non League Show features her nemesis Phil Annets again due to the weekend's FA Vase Second Round ties:

The Non League Football Show / 19th November 2021 - FA Vase 2, North Ferriby & Fair Game (audioboom.com)

As the FA Vase hits the Second Round, Tim Fuell calls up Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on to give us a run down on the 64 ties ahead this weekend.
One of those ties involves the phoenix club North Ferriby headed by Chairman Les Hare, who in 22 years as Chair of predecessors North Ferriby United took a 'village club' to Wembley twice. Once beaten Vase finalists and once FA Trophy winners. With lessons learnt and now back out retirement he hopes there are still dreams to be realised with the new club starting this weekend in the North v North derby.
Earlier this year Fair Game launched as a group of football fans from diverse backgrounds (academics, administrators, etc) looking to achieve a greater balance across the football pyramid in terms of finance and focus on the important things such as fan engagement and celebrating the club at the heart of the community. CEO of Fair Game Niall Couper explains more and how you could get involved.
Providing this week's Non League Paper round-up, Editor at Large Matt Badcock returns reviewing the week's news and previewing what's to come in this weekend's newspaper.

No news as yet as to who and what will feature on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show at 2.00pm today, all will be revealed later:

Karen can breath a huge sigh of relief as her nemesis Phil Annets is not on the other Non League Show for a change today with no FA Cup or FA Vase action this weekend:

The Non League Football Show / 26th November 2021 - Fan Led Review, Lewes, Curzon Ashton, FA Trophy 2 (audioboom.com)

In the week the Government released findings of its Fan Led Review into Football Guidance we speak to Stuart Fuller, football fan, journalist, administrator, Chairman at Lewes FC and contributor to the review research. We learn about some of the initiatives already underway at Lewes that are already leading the way along lines similar to those recommended by the Review.
We also talk to Adam Lakeland on his first month in charge at Curzon Ashton since leaving Farsley Athletic and as they prepare for an FA Trophy Second Round visit of managerless Chester.
David Richardson of the Non League Paper helps round up the latest movements on the managerial merry-go-round along with a preview of this weekend's edition of the paper in another bumper edition of the show.

Typically Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show is not available to listen to live this afternoon due to the Leicester City v Watford live commentary however it will be possible to listen to a recording later via the BBC Three Counties Radio website. As always the Premier League takes precedence:

It's no surprise whatsoever that Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show has been shortlisted for Radio Show of the Year at the forthcoming Football Supporters Association (FSA) Awards and you can vote here although 606 will no doubt win

To be fair the other Non League Show, with decent presenter Tim Fuell, is a good listen although Karen will no doubt disagree as her hated nemesis Phil Annetts is on again this week due to the FA Cup Second Round ties this weekend involving the remaining Non League Club's. Phil's stats are second to none and he makes Karen look like a complete novice with her own stats contained in her 'Inane Ramblings (From Up Norff)', Phil pointed out that this season unfortunately has the lowest number of Non League Club's in the Second Round for fifteen seasons but at least two are guaranteed to progress to the Third Round with two all Non League ties, Boreham Wood v St Albans City on Monday and Kidderminster Harriers v FC Halifax Town on Sunday:

Tim Fuell previews the weekend's games in the FA Cup Second Round.
First up Phil Annets with his FA Cup Factfile hat on. Plenty of non league interest, including at least two non league clubs guaranteed a place in the Third Round.
One club hoping for that opportunity are FC Halifax Town. Manager Pete Wild has experience of Third Round FA Cup giantkilling from his time at Oldham Athletic, this time his is the Goliath hoping to overcome their hosts Kidderminster Harriers.
Matt Badcock is also back this week to provide the Non League Paper round-up and weekend preview.

All the FA Cup Second Round ties this weekend, no doubt Ollie Bayliss will heavily feature the Boreham Wood v St Albans City tie in his BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show on Sunday which takes place on Monday:

I don't expect many, if anyone, will be listening to the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show this afternoon as Ollie Bayliss is sadly not presenting, it will no doubt be all about the Boreham Wood v St Albans City FA Cup Second Round tie tomorrow evening anyway although I gather that there is a feature on Winslow United:

Ollie Bayliss was part of a record 4,101 attendance at the Boreham Wood v St Albans City FA Cup Second Round tie on Monday evening which the hosts won 4-0 and they now entertain AFC Wimbledon at Meadow ParK in the Third Round:

Bad, sorry, grave news for Karen as her nemesis Phil Annets is on the other Non League Show again today previewing this weekend's eagerly awaited FA Vase Third Round ties and involving our very own Tring Athletic, New Salamis, Shefford Town & Campton and Hadley albeit only four remaining SSML Club's is disappointing:

The Non League Football Show / 10th December 2021 - FA Vase, Wallingford Town (audioboom.com)

As the FA Vase hits the last 64 and Round Three of the competition Tim Fuell calls upon Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactFile hat on to learn what tie guarantees a Step 6 team in the Fourth Round, what three teams are re-meeting each other after facing the same opposition in last season's competition and what clubs are set to make history if they win through.
This week's main guest is a manager at a Step 6 club hoping to continue their run of cupsets and maintain their form that also sees them unbeaten in the Combined Counties Division One this season. Lee Matthews is the gaffer at Wallingford Town who has seen his new side gel quickly and effectively and is confident they and the club are set to go places.
Rounding off the show is the Non League Paper's David Richardson who previews this weekend's edition including the lack of TV coverage for the four non league clubs left in the Third Round of the FA Cup and some big games this weekend in the National League.

Roll on 2.00pm and Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show which will feature the staple, albeit boring, diet of 'big boys' Boreham Wood and St Albans City as well as Biggleswade Town, following their race related abandonment with Tamworth yesterday, Oxhey Jets, Old Bradwell United and Newport Pagnell Town after their impressive 6-0 FA Vase Third Round win at Whittlesey Athletic.

No statistician Phil Annets this week on the other Non League Show, Karen can breath a huge sigh of relief:

The Non League Football Show / 17th December 2021 - FA Trophy 3, Barnet & New MIlls (audioboom.com)

As the FA Trophy reaches the 3rd Round Tim Fuell catches up with old presenting partner Dave Anderson on the continuing rise of his new club Barnet and their preparations for their Trophy tie v Boreham Wood.
As COVID begins to close in on non league football once again, we discuss the fine imposed on New Mills FC by the North West Counties League for failing to fulfill a fixture. A Fixture in another land whose government had changed the rules to require all visitors to be double vaccinated. Something New Mills couldn't meet at the time but have been penalised for with a hefty fine. Chairman Ray Coverley is still a little unclear as to what they could have done to avoid the fine.
Also on the subject of COVID, Matt Badcock from The Non League Paper discusses the two games already pulled in the FA Trophy due to infection outbreaks and what the future may hold in the coming days and weeks for non league football. As COVID begins to close in on non league football once again, we discuss the fine imposed on New Mills FC by the North West Counties League for failing to fulfill a fixture. What an interesting start to this afternoon's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show with Ollie Bayliss, Ollie interviewed, sorry, probed new Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack who took over the reins as Chairman at McMullen Park on Thursday from Lui La Mura who must have had a huge offer from Mr McCormack he couldn't refuse. Also on the show are features on Risborough Rangers, St Albans City, the FA Trophy and Referees:

  • 2 weeks later...

Again no amazing statistician Phil Annets last Friday on the other Non League Christmas Show, Karen can breath another sigh of relief:

The Non League Football Show / 24th December 2021 - Spennymoor Town & Matlock Town (audioboom.com)

As Christmas arrives, we go to town on Non-league.... or rather go to two Non-league towns. Spennymoor Town and Matlock Town to be precise.
First up, Anthony Johnson talks with Tim Fuell about his and Bernard Morley's newest move, to take on the managerial reins at the County Durham club.
Also on the show Paul Phillips manager at Northern Premier League second-placed Matlock Town ahead of his side hosting his former club Buxton who sit atop of the division. It's the big Derbyshire derby this Christmas break.
Rounding up the show David Richardson of The Non League Paper.
Happy Christmas.

At least we know there definitely is a God, Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show is thankfully back today following the frustrating Christmas 'sabatical' last week, this afternoon's show features Royston Town, Bedford Town, Welwyn Garden City, Long Crendon, Flackwell Heath and Penn & Tyler’s Green:

Last Friday's other Non League Show, obviously presenter Tim Fuell isn't Ollie Bayliss but his show is always a good listen since he thankfully jettisoned co-presenter Dave Anderson:

The Non League Football Show / 31st December 2021 - Barnstaple Town and End of the Year (audioboom.com)

In the final episode of the year Tim Fuell speaks with Kevin Darch of Barnstaple Town. Vice Chairman and joint manager at the club he made over 300 appearances for he saw his side finally achieve their first league win of the season over the Christmas period. Their 20th game of the season it was a home and in the local Christmas derby and brought many smiles to the club who have seen their struggles over the year but are one their way up building a communite. He alos explains how tough it is for club’s like his in Step 4 on the edge of the country and so often the edge of survival. Bottom of the Southern league Division One south but alongside his co-manager and ex-teammates Kevin Squire, THETWOKEVS are just a part of a club rebuilding successful for a long term future.
Plus there's Matt Badcock, Editor at Large of The Non League Paper giving a review of the week's games and news and a preview of the weekend's paper.

Not Dave Andersen fortunately but unfortunately for Karen her nemesis Phil Annet is on this week's other Non League Show who makes her look an amateur with his statistics:

An interesting interval score of Boreham Wood 1 AFC Wimbledon 0 at Meadow Park this afternoon in the FA Cup Third Round, if it stays that way for the next 45 minutes it won't be difficult to guess who will feature heavily on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show tomorrow afternoon.
