I wonder whether Bedford will do a 'Mick The Miller' and fly out of the traps again this season as was the case last season before disappointingly falling away and prior to Covid sadly destroying the campaign. This afternoon sees Gavin Hoyte and Ollie Thorne's men travel to Icknield Way to take on Tring Corinthians AFC in their final pre-season friendly fixture before locking horns with Shefford Town & Campton at McMullen Park next Wednesday evening:

Bedford have won both their opening League fixtures and, coincidentally, both 3-2 against Shefford Town & Campton and Wellingborough Whitworth, albeit at McMullen Park and they make the tricky looking trip to Thame United Reserves on Saturday. Here are the two match programmes from the games with Shefford Town & Campton and Wellingborough Whitworth:

Munchkin - I'm just wondering whether the SSML hierarchy put Mr McCormack through the 'fit and proper persons' test before he took over the reins from Lui La Mura at McMullen Park, that would surely be advisable. I see that Bradford City have received an offer from a group of US Cryptocurrency investors to buy the Club so perhaps that is the way we are sadly heading, Clive Carter might be getting a knock on his office door soon at Abbey Road ?

This afternoon's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show with Ollie Bayliss featured new Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack who took over as Chairman of the McMullen Park Club on Thursday, here is a link to the interesting interview:

An interesting artice on the BBC Sport website, Mr McCormack is certainly the man of the moment but will it all end in floods of tears:

Karen - Thanks for the information, I was going to say, tongue in cheek, in my last post that Jason Goldman and Martin Wells's days were numbered at McMullen Park, and especially following the 6-1 defeat at Northampton Sileby Rangers on Saturday, it appears that they walked before they were pushed by Mr McCormack:

Did we find out why Jason Goldman and Martin Wells's positions had been made untenable at McMullen Park, what was actually their objection to Peter McCormack's arrival:

Here is an interesting YouTube piece particularly as, wait for it, it is disclosed that Mr McCormack made an unsuccessful bid for Bedford Town prior to approaching former Bedford Chairman Lui La Mura  and making him an offer for the Club he could not refuse:

A recent and interesting BBC News article on new Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack, I wonder whether Bedford Town have any regrets about unceremoniousIy showing Mr McCormack the door of The Eyrie before he approached then Bedford Chairman Lui La Mura and asked him to name his price for the CIub:

Another interesting Podcast with Peter McCormack guesting, interestingly he points out that he is still going through the process of acquiring the Club and all the i's aren't actually dotted as yet or the t's crossed. Mr McCormack states that 'there are still some complexities with the purchase' which is strange isn't it as we thought everything had been done and dusted and it has made former Chairman Lui La Mura a rich man:

I wonder whether the noveIty is aIready starting to wear thin for new Bedford Chairman Peter McCormack as he has quit Twitter and the Club's Iive stream of every game appears to have suddenly stopped, I wonder whether he has thrown, sorry, chucked in the toweI after pointing out in a Podcast that he is still going through the process of acquiring the Club due to some 'complexities with the purchase'. It's aIso interesting that Mr McCormack tried to purchase Step 4 Bedford Town before Bedford but was unceremoniousIy shown the door of The Eyrie by Chairman Ralph Allen, that wouId indicate that Bedford isn't his first love and he had his sights firmly set on the bigger Club in the town:
