There are suggestions, (albeit rather confused ones), on another forum that Mildenhall Town have withdrawn from the FA Vase.

Agamemnon3 - Thanks, Karen hadn't mentioned anything and must have known:

Mildenhall Town pulled out of the FA Vase (suffolknews.co.uk)

Mildenhall Town have been withdrawn from this season's Buildbase FA Vase

The Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit had been due to host Leighton Town in the second round proper on Saturday.

However, after taking into consideration the severe impact of Tier 2 restrictions, the club's hierarchy has opted to pull out of the national competition.

Mildenhall are also among a number of Premier Division sides that will not be playing league matches for the time being, with their next scheduled fixture at home against Haverhill Rovers on January 2.

Chairman Bill Flynn said: "There is lots to consider with the viability of games going ahead in the near future, and we decided that the viability was not there.

We considered the pros and cons of the situation, and financial hardship was not a price worth paying to stagger on through this blighted season at the moment."

It's the usual bun fight over on another Forum to see which groundhopper gets their report in first:

Ilford 2 Colney Heath 4.

FA VASE 2nd Round Proper - ILFORD v COLNEY HEATH by Steve Mahoney - Flipsnack

A wonderful day out in East London (well not all of it) a fixture i had been keeping my eye on for a multitude of reasons, great information coming from the club, a few minutes walk from Seven Kings Station, pubs open and not disappointed with any of it barring the final result but Ilford would have been hard pressed to win this one given the league positions in ESL and South Mids. Twice the home side came back to equalise in an enthralling first half before the Herts visitors deservedly won it. I'm never really into grounds surrounded by running tracks but after weeks of no football this place looked the best footballing venue in the world and its just a shame that after all the efforts put in by the club officials the team couldn't progress. Much has been made of the rules on refreshments in tier 2 and Halstead Town put Ilford on the right track for sales today. Just wish I'd have known pop was on sale and I'd have slowed it down somewhat on the High Road!
To think i was going to Shepshed today as well!!

Very impressive win for MK, Wroxham had Grant Holt and Simon Lappin in their side

Yes, their name could be on the FA Vase this season with the wins so far over Thame Rangers, Broadfields United, Stansted and now Wroxham who regularly reach the latter stages of the competition and are former finalists from 2009/10. From what I can gather there were some handbags following the penalty shoot out with Wroxham accusing Milton Keynes Irish of going overboard with their celebrations, it sounds very much like sour grapes:

A very disappointing afternoon for Eynesbury Rovers, a groundhopper from another Forum attened:

fa vase 2nd round
STOWMARKET TOWN 5-0 EYNESBURY ROVERS
att - 176
new ground #322
as one-sided as the score suggests for the hosts. arrived in plenty of time at greens meadow. nice to see a club doing a printed programme and a decent one too for £1.50. the hosts are on a great unbeaten league run and were the favourites going into this tie.
took stow 20 mins to take the lead but once they did it was pretty much one-way traffic, they got a deflected second just before h-t.
carried on after the break adding 3 more including a penalty. final goal was scored on the hour, should have had more.
great club from what i could see due to the covid restrictions.
memory of the match - just purely seeing a game of football. what a treat.

North Greenford United 2 Walsham Le Willows 1

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this one:

North Greenford United 2 Walsham-Le-Willows 1
FA Vase 2nd round

Berkeley Fields
Admission: £8
Programme: In line
912Walsham-le-Willows.indd (northgreenfordutdfc.co.uk)
Attendance: 141
Arrived to find a very narrow entrance to the car park, so decided to park in the road, seems a car can get through but the club have no one on gate all time so second gate is padlocked shut- narrow gates would be mentioned again!
Basic ground, but a good crowd in attendance with a few from Suffolk. Very evn first 7 minutes then a Walsham player went to ground, seemed he may have broke his collar bone and was in a bad way - they decided not to put him on a stretcher and instead wait for an ambulance.
After about 25 minutes the ambulance arrived, but could not get through the gates to the ground as they were too narrow for the ambulance!!
Player left for hospital and the first half re-started with 40 minutes injury time!
Walsham were caught cold and Northwood put the pressure on and took the lead, this did walk the visitors up and they got back on terms after missing a few other chances to get level.
Second half was even with both teams playing good football - it was the home team who scored with not long left on the clock, but long enough for the home keeper to have to make a great save from a direct free kick.
North Greenford go into the 3rd Round, but neither team really deserved to lose.

The Buildbase FA Vase Second Round

North Greenford United 2 Walsham Le Willows 1

Another groundhopper from another Forum was at Berkeley Fields yesterday, no mention of Melford Simpson's brace that earned North Greenford United 'a cool' £900 and a guaranteed £350:

North Greenford United (1)2 Walsham-le-Willows (1) 1
Also here and not much to add to Dribble's earlier report. Lots of familiar faces in the throng. I noted that Chris Mepham former Brentford defender before it all went right, was also present at the game.
No beery tales for obvious reasons, though lunch was taken in the nearby Greenwood Hotel in Northolt.
It was great to bump into non-poster Filthy Gary as soon as I walked in. He is always entertaining, though it provided a problem in that the boys needed to be kept well out of earshot as he recounts his tales of derring do. We were joined by Sigismund at around 16:10, though this was by design. He had intended to watch a local 2pm kick off and join us for the second half. Of course, due to the lenghty injury he actually arrived with about 25 minutes of the match played. We were late joined by former poster CND 67 who is always pleasant company. Luckily the boys found a football and went off to do what they do best: Have a kick around, get covered in mud and argue with local children.
Most in the ground were mightily relieved when NGU scored their excellently worked winner as it was getting cold and the prospect of extra time did not appeal one bit.
All in all a good afternoon, the highlight of which was the company and their entertaining (albeit in one case horrifying) observations and anecdotes.
Lastly: Best wishes to Charlie Norman for a speedy recovery.

Stow Back With A Bang In Vase – Stowmarket Town FC

Still quite shocked by Eynesbury Rovers tame FA Vase Second Round exit a week or so ago:

Saturday 5th December 2020
Buildbase FA Vase Second Round
STOWMARKET TOWN 5 EYNESBURY ROVERS 0
Eynesbury Rovers bowed out of the FA Vase at the opening round for them this season with a 5-0 defeat at Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Stowmarket Town. It was only the second time this season that Eynesbury had failed to score in a game.
After a lengthy lay off for both sides due to the coronavirus lockdown it was the hosts who looked the sharper of the two teams. Stowmarket gave a debut to former professional Reggie Lambe and he marked it with a goal. Eynesbury welcomed back former player Joe Bradbury who came on as a second half sub.
There were few chances for either side during the game but the hosts took theirs and Eynesbury didn’t. They had the first shot in the game but Jordan Brown’s close range effort was fired straight at the goalkeeper. Their only other first half shot was from a 28 yard free kick from a central position but Cameron Hyde sent his shot low and wide of the goal.
Stowmarket took a 20th minute lead when Jack Ainsley scored with a shot following a corner kick. After a Josh Mayhew header was headed off the line by James Ducket and Lambe saw his shot deflected behind, Stowmarket scored their second five minutes before the break. A corner was played to Seb Dunbar on the edge of the penalty area and he fired in a low shot through a crowded penalty area into the corner of the goal.
Trailing 2-0 at half time any hopes that Rovers had for a revival was quickly extinguished as the hosts raced into a 5-0 lead on the hour mark. Lambe headed home from a free kick in the 54th minute and then two minutes later Josh Mayhew scored from the penalty spot after a foul inside the box. Rovers conceded another goal from a corner when Luke Read poked the ball home from close range.
Eynesbury did bring on Charlie Moss for Kye Andrews and he looked a threat but their only chances came from a James Hatch shot, which was easily saved, and a Bradbury 18 yard shot which went over the bar.
With the job already done Stowmarket eased off after their fifth goal and comfortably held on to go through to the third round.
