ISTHMIAN LEAGUE GOLDEN BOOT AWARDS

Congratulations to Nnamdi Nwachuku (Sudbury) who won the Golden Boot in the Isthmian North – yes, it is our “Dave”, who played for us in 2014.

And Congratulations to joe Taylor of Lewes who won the Golden Boot in our division, with 30 goals.

Only problem is that Joe did not win the award outright, as Sam Higgins also scored 30 goals in league games. (The two he scored in the play-off against Cray Wanderers did not count, as it was League goals only).

It seems that Joe Taylor “won” as he only scored seven goals through penalties, whereas Sam scored eight penalties. But a goal is a goal, no matter how it is scored and Sam has been cheated out of the award, as quite obviously both players should receive the award.

The Isthmian League should belately give Sam his award as well.

So if Sam had scored 31 goals and 9 of them were penalties he would have won outright ?

If we're going to compare the quality of the goals then let's check how many of them were 'tap-ins' and how many were from 20 yards plus.

Rules made up by old men who should know better.

If you have to have an outright winner (and I do not see why you have too) then surely a fairer way would be to the select the player who scored the goals in the fewest minutes.
