NLS Next Season

Southern League play offs completed, Bedford and Telford will go up from Premier Central and Merthyr Town and AFC Totton from Premier South.

Horsham and Dover go up from Isthmian Premier.

Dagenham, Maidenhead, Ebbsfleet and AFC Fylde are relegated.

On the face of it, Dagenham, Maidenhead, Ebbsfleet, Horsham, Dover and AFC Totton will go to National League South.

AFC Fylde, Bedford and Telford will go to National League North.

Merthyr will probably also therefore be placed in National League North.

Remaining NLS North allocation made up from Northern Premier League.

We shall see if that all works out after the FA have completed their allocations.

That's the obvious 6. Would have been quite nice to see Merthyr Town in the South but that would have needed Boston to go down from the National League. Unfortunately, with 3 sides from the NL dropping into the NLS it means one fewer being promoted from step 3.

Using a slide rule and invoking the spirit of Pythagoras, Chelmsford is about the same latitude as the town of St Albans (no longer in the league of course) and St Albans is just north of Hemel Hempstead.

Merthyr fractionally north of Hemel but appears to be marginally below Chelmsford.

Fine margins, but, as said earlier, it is unlikely that they would shift a long standing member of the league north on such a tight figure.

I've seen it suggested by some Merthyr fans that they would prefer to be in the North as they thought it had some better away days.

That kinda works out for everyone then if they are in the North
