Derek Brown and Rob Smith - Both these players were involved in a violent attack in the club bar on Saturday after the game.

Here's my account of events...

I was told that Derek Brown had sent a threatening email to Thornsey regarding statements made on here during the week.

In the bar after the game, Derek Brown came in and instantly launched at a torrent of foul language at Thornsey. He then walk off but you could tell there was an atmosphere.

I left at the same time as Thonsey and Tom Fenton.

As I was leaving Derek Brown rushed past me after Thornsey. I was then grabbed from behind, pulled down and punched in the face about three times by Rob Smith. Outside, I am told Brown attacked Tom Fenton.

John Gibson entered the clubhouse as Rob Smith was being held back by Peter Lewis.

Outside, I met with Steve Castle, Migs and John Gibson. John assumed the problem was the fault of Thornsey and Tom.

I asked him what he intended to do about the assult on me. He said he speak to me this coming week.

I offered to shake hands with Rob Smith, who after all and injuries aside, has been a loyal player at the club. This was refused.

I later spoke to Peter Lewis by phone and offered to drop the matter if John would call me to discuss. This didn't happen.

I've reported the matter to the Police. They will take my statement later today. They've told me to report the incident to the club which I have done. They tell me the incident will be reported to the FA.

On reflection, I don't think either player should have a future at this club. The attempted attack on Thornsey may have been provoked but not justified. The attack on myself and Tom was outrageous.

If you are reading this John, I expect to hear from you soon.

Seems like the message has been deleted already from the Albans forum!

Spoken to Zeal just now. It was all pretty ugly and it looks like Gibson could ban Thornsey.

Just woken up, I know it's 6 at night, but stayed up all night to watch the Grand Prix.

I was just expecting a few messages to catch up on, gordon bennett. I am shocked.

Huge shock, maybe even Massive.

Tomorrow when the EFM boys go to work it will make interesting reading. Actually for a change looking forward to going to work. No not really.

Well the good news is folks that I'm not banned, although it has been suggested that it may be a good idea if I didn't go into the bar for a while.

If you listen to TalkSport or Radio 5 or a lot of messages on these boards and its full of opinions. I had an opinion about a St.Albans team which has been woeful most of the season, I'm not one of the 400+ supporters that have vanished during this season, I'm still there and will continue to go even if we were relegated and I laid into a few players and some areas of the team in general, which as a paying supporter I have a right to do, if the players (or player) can't be professional enough to take critisism then they really shouldn't be in the game.

One of St.Albans biggest problems this season has been the dramatic loss in form of some of our more experianced players, if the player in question really feels that he is the player he was a couple of seasons ago then he needs to look long and hard.

I find it quite amazing that a chairman that slagged off the players in the press only a couple of months ago can try and say that I instigated this, a sober attack on supporters by players is worse than anything EFM have ever done, alledeged to of done or said.

Apparently the players in question have been fined and I really hope that they leave in the summer, in the meantime the dwindling bar takings will be doen some more due to my absence.

EFM - I trust you will also receive a written apology from the Club Secretary on the abysmal behaviour of one of their representatives !
