It's been a bad day!

Quite a few things went wrong for me today!

1. The coach driver banned us from drinking alcohol on the coach (never had a problem before on away trips) and confiscated all alcohol, nearly caused a riot!!

2. Coach driver was a miserable [***!!***] who moaned about everyone taking too long on toilet breaks!!

3. We lost 3-2, gutted!

4. Our coach developed engine problems coming home on the M25 and we had to stop at Thurrock services to get a replacement. Had to get my mate's dad to pick us up.

5. Left my mobile on the back seat of my mate's dad's car and won't get it back till tomorrow evening!!! (nobody text me please, Laz, LMU, Maladroit, Zeal please note!!!)

Glad to get home really!

I wouldn't say appearing in another FA Trophy final is a bad day at all... many fans at this level would kill to see their team in the final. You won the Trophy a few seasons ago, have finished Ryman league runners-up God knows how many years on the trot and won it this season. Conference football next season. League football a distinct possibility quite soon. New stadium on the way. All from being in the Essex Senior a few years ago. Plenty to smile about methinks. Losing narrowly 3-2 to deserving opponents would be gutting, but there is a bigger picture. Maybe Canvey have higher standards than others <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> but just remember others would love to be in your shoes.

I don't mean this to sound like I'm moaning, really I don't ! I watched the final today (on TV) and was impressed by both teams. But bad luck today and very good luck for next season.

Unlucky lads, sadly couldnt get to watch it on the telly, but i heard the story.

Like the above poster says, enjoy what youve got. Id kill for a trip to villa park in the sun, and yes were all secretly jealous of you.

Shhhhh, dont tell anyone.

Btw, does anyone know what the official attendance was?

Official attendance quoted on the day was...6635. I believe that is the lowest in the history of FA Trophy finals. In theory of course the FA Trophy final will be returning to Wembley in a couple of years but you wonder if whoever runs Wembley will wonder about hosting a final with the potential for such a low crowd. Having said that, it was a good atmosphere, still can't quite work out what happened to the team though.

Afraid it's a fact of life, alcohol-free coaches. It's been like that going to Football League games for many years now. You just have to be creative. There's always an unusually large amount of soft drink bottles accompanying us on away trips .....

Sorry you had such a bad day - but it's always fun for others to read about someone else's misfortune! Take heart in that it was a cracking game and you boys have got what you wanted at the start of the season.
