BRightened My Day Up...

...when I read the NLP report concerning Aldershot. Chairman Karl Prentice has said that he does not believe his club have a hooligan problem...this after eight supporters appearing in court following fracas in September when they played Carlise leading to one of them being jailed, and three banned for five years. Obviously, on that evidence, they don't...er....do...er...DOH!!!

One of his quotes about the situation is even better..."It is important to remember that these people are not supporters of Aldershot, they go under the banner of our football club"...So...er...they're supporters, right?....DOH!!!

There are also reports of violence involving Aldershot supporters...er...people going under the banner of Aldershot...following Halifax's defeat of Aldershot last weekend...At Halifax!!! So these people that travel are NOT supporters? Obviously not in Mr. Prentice's world.

Oh no, no hooligans at Aldershot. Clean as a whistle they are.

Remember that game several years back when there was a 'fracas' on the terrace?

Thankfully i was too young to get involved, cos they were big f***ers!

I think we won 1-0 on the day but my overriding memory is of nearly getting beaten to a pulp in the train station when i made the mistake of wearing my ricay scarf on show, and then telling an aldershot person travelling under the banner to f off.

It was an ex ricay player who saved my bacon. Cant remember his name, but he played about 10 minutes on his debut and then got injured and never played again. Anyone remember his name? A true legend in my eyes.

Sorry ive well and truly hijacked your thread with my boring story.

i remember that game well mainly cos the police had the cheek to pull me and a few mates in after the match despite the fact that a lot of their fans were always up for some trouble. Apparently having a few drinks in a bar and making a bit of noise was worse than the countless amount of hassle caused by them over the years. Fortunately they had nothing on us but i cant believe they wont admit they have a problem!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/achso.gif" alt="" />

The game I remember was the one at home where we beat them 2 - 0 and they had Ollie and Mark sent off. There was a couple of their supporters fighting each other behind the goal and had to be separated by the police.

The worst one was the Trophy game? when they caused trouble in the clubhouse afterwards, although I did not see it I saw the police van come tearing along.

I remember the FA Trophy game because I was on a oil platform about 100 miles off the coast of Holland, speaking to Neil on the phone (I don't think we ever got to grips with the delay on the line) and then he said 'hold on, somethings happening downstairs, can you call me back'

I also remember the game at their place when we beat Aldershot 1-0 and there was trouble, I was in a hotel in Delaware trying to find out the latest score and couldn't understand why no one was answering their phones for the last 15 minutes.

We never had any trouble with Aldershot until that championship decider 2 seasons ago at the Lane.

There were already stories that Aldershot fans were chucking bottles out of the coach window coming down Canvey way before the game.

When they scored a couple of their fans invaded the pitch and wouldn't leave. All hell broke loose as beer cans, bottles were thrown in to the Canvey end. Luckily the police waded in and ended it before it got nasty.

Although that was the only instance of trouble with Aldershot there was always a bit of a menacing atmosphere whenever we played them at the Lane.

I've always seemed to miss Aldershot away but I've heard some real horror stories about that place.

We have been on the receiveing end of Aldershot's hooligans several times. The first was the club house fracas at our place In susequent games we policed them much better at acost of over £500 pounds for security but still could not prevent one of their 40+ year old hooligans punching an eight year old ball boy in the face when we scored.

The worst was at their segregated ground where they attacked our supporters inside our caged off area with the help of some of their stewards, much of this caught on video. The game was stopped as The chairman and I ran from the stand to try and reach his two young (then) sons who were in the crowd but the referee after the game denied that it had to be stopped and refused to repport it. With the help of video evidence some of the culprits were idenyified but KP's response was to make them paint the ground and then sit in front of the directors box the following season .

That is aldershots way of dealing with a hooligan element that unfortunately follows them around . If the had accepted the problem when they were in our league and dealt with it by banning anyone who caused trouble they would probably not be in todays situation with fans being jailed.

Even the last time we played them there the police spotters had their camera trained on George Borg (our manager) not on their unruly crowd who were throwing coins into our segregted area. I think that sums up the information they were given by the club about where the trouble would come from.

I was a ballboy at the club myself for some years and although I wasn’t ever hit by any of them I always felt one of the idiots may try something yet I never felt this with any of the teams that brought numbers down to New Lodge. I don’t what it was that intimated particularly about whether it was the size of the support but I ballboyed for a number of years and never felt threatened by other clubs with large supports. Whether it was the previous history having been at the “fight” game at their ground or the fact that we were given a special talk by Ian predecessor how to act with this one, something he never did with teams which I guess installed or increased any previous feelings of fear that I had with ballboying that game. Certainly wasn’t the fact they made comments towards me as other teams fans did and when they did it I would quiet happily say something within the bounds of friendly banter but when they said something I tended to ignore them as it certainly was beyond the bounds of what even I would see as friendly banter and at times I have been known to push that one to its limits on here.

Anyways for their chairmen to dare to suggest they dont have a hooligan problem is an absolute joke

Billericay's hoolie 'firm', The South Green Mob, went Cyberspace ages ago, and now conduct almost all thier hooligan activity via the net. Don't mess with these boys, they could send you a nasty virus. Mind you, I think I over heard a few of 'em in the pub the other night, something about being up for a bit beaver on saturday.....
