FOOTBALLER PLEADS GUILTY

Arsenal midfielder Jermaine Pennant has been warned he may face jail after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

The 22-year-old admitted driving with excess alcohol, driving while disqualified and driving while uninsured.

Pennant was appearing at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court this morning.

He was arrested after being at the wheel of his blue Mercedes-Benz SL500 when it was spotted in a car park dragging a lamp-post underneath it.

The court heard his alcohol reading had been 85mg per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Pennant had collided with the lamp-post in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, in the early hours of January 23.

The crash happened hours before the Gunners were due to play Newcastle United.

The former England under-21 player was banned from driving for 16 months last February after being seen travelling in the wrong lane in Paddington, west London.

It has been announced that he will spend the rest of the season on loan to Birmingham City, having spent the 2003/04 campaign at Leeds United.

Nottingham-born Pennant scored a hat-trick on his full Premiership debut for Arsenal, against Southampton in May 2003.

Pennant has been banned from driving until he is officially sentenced on March 1.

The pennant deal was done before the incident involving the spurs player's car.

with bongo fc's reputation for signing outcast footballers, eg savage, sniffing around bellamy etc, it's hardly any suprise that the loan deal was confirmed, even though it was postponed.

very unlike arsenal though, if george graham was still in charge, the club would probably stood by the player, as they did with adams & merson.

do arsenal have the most criminal players?

anyone heard of the scumbag Marcus Artry who was recently locked up for being part of a 'rape club' allegedly, of course?
