This time last year!

Recommended Posts

Well im quite happy to admit that I was convinced last year that the play-offs were a cert....

then came the last minute goal at Aldershot (or was it woking). From then on it was downhill. Fingers crossed for something completly diff this time around

At this time of the season Harry its not so much 'what position?' as 'who have you played?'

Grays didn't gain much kudos by thumping us but winning at Hereford is a good result in anyones book.

We started well last season until we came up against the good sides, Hereford, Barnet, Carlisle etc

At the end of the season when everybody has played everyone else twice teams tend to end up at their rightful position.....unless the money runs out I suspect Grays will be above us.

I could be wrong but my understanding was that the moneyman at Hornchurch used money from his double glazing company to bankroll the club, when the company got into trouble the money dried up.

I haven't a clue about the Grays owner or how he finances the club and I can't say it really bothers me much.

A lot of people kick up a fuss about teams 'buying success' but of course thats what every team is trying to do. I can't see much difference in money that comes from a sponsor or via the largesse of a wealthy patron.

I would be concerned if the Fleet where reliant too much on the whim or good fortune of one man but if that man ever turns up at Stonebridge road I am sure we would all enjoy the success that money brings with it.

Actually if the right numbers come up on Euromillions tomorrow night I will be that man.

In that case, I wish you well. I think I'll nip out and by a few tickets, I fancy sitting in the directors box lording it.

Now if all the Genuine Fleet fans bought a ticket, it may improve our chances somewhat.

Well I'll tell you anyway - he's an actual Grays supporter whose company is involved in rail maintenance, so I suspect it's all on a more secure footing than Hornchurch was.

Apart from being in Essex & beating us 6-1, I quite liked the Grays ground, nice big clubhouse, nice away end, nice bogs ! Not too sure about the bloke ringing the bell on his balcony though, surely he must get abuse every week ?

Nice pub opposite the ground as well....can't remember the name of it though..

Cheers,
