A different crowd theme

Kev, I never realised Chelmsford fans were such snobs.

For months you’ve all been banging on about how good it will be at MP, but as the day draws nearer you seem to be more concerned with location than the venue itself.

I personally think the area of Melbourne (Chelmsford) is ok, no better, no worse than anywhere else in Chelmsford.

perhaps your theme song should be, Don't worry, Be Happy.

Where's my friend Mr BC today?

Melbourne is a sh*thole area of Chelmsford. Its scrote infested but nothing to be afraid of. Kings Road, North Av, Melbourne Av and Trent Rd are the bad bits, but it soon tails off into the quite nice Newland Spring

Yes indeed, many a football ground was built
within a less affluent...usually surrounded by terraced housing... residential area in past years. Suppose in those day it was far more of the working man's sport than it is today what with all these corporate facilities.

Your reply of "Yes indeed", implied that you agreed.

Both Balmoral and Sean have made similar derogatory remarks about the area of Melbourne.

A large % of Chelmsford residents live in and around the area of Melbourne, and to talk seriously of that area and of it's people(Banter aside) in such a manner is, imo, snobbish.
Are these not the same people CCFC wish to make their week in week out home supporters?

BTW. I lived in Clyde Crescent for 12 years, moved out 7 years ago, so I know the area very well..

Nope, TC, totally misinterpreted by your goodself and definitely no snobbish comment. But, presume you will now be throwing that back at young Jim who made the initial remark? No need to preach to me, thanks.

"BTW. I lived in Clyde Crescent for 12 years, moved out 7 years ago, so I know the area very well"

...and I have never lived in Chelmsford (and possibly never will) but have in-laws there, one of whom resided within the Melbourne area for several years.

oooohh.

I'm still amazed that the "working class area" of Melbourne is looked down upon by the CCFC fans.

Jims remarks are a little different, not a lot granted, but a little different.

EG, I accept, almost expect that Chelmsford City fans will call our ground a hovel etc etc, we're rivals ... but I would not expect or accept it of our own supporters.

Keith.

George was in last night, he's started his rehab with Gary Ling which is great news.

Hmm, you been eating acid drops, TC?? All said and done, as long as a club has a 'home' facility doesn't really matter whether it's like erm, say a Cheshunt or a Millenium Stadium....it's what does (or does not) happen on the pitch that folk pay to see...

Would you object strongly, Steve, were I to ask you rephrase the above thus-

"I'm still amazed that the "working class area" of Melbourne is looked down upon by at least three CCFC fans"

It's just that anyone reading your sentence as is is worded at the moment might feel that you are of the opinion that all, most or at least a significant number of CCFC fans "look down upon "the working class area" of Melbourne rather than merely regreting the postings of three fans....

I suppose I could make a similar point about Gazza'a "moan moan moan" post in that the views of a small number of City fans may not necessarily be representative....

No need to edit, you have made the point for me Peter.

It was a serious point I was making, the people of Melbourne are your future fans.
I don't understand why CCFC fans, (well three of them at least) should put them, and the area down..

As I am obviously classed as one of the "Melbourne 3", could I please clarify the situation. As intimated in one of my earlier posts, my comments with regard to the area are based on facts which I was aware of some 40 odd years ago, and which in all probability no longer exist. After all, having lived 500 miles away from Chelmsford for the last 20 years hardly qualifies me to cast aspersions on the merits (or otherwise) of ANY areas of my home town.

Now.....if you were to ask my opinions on the Mastrick and Torry areas of Aberdeen, I may be able to offer something more positive!
