strange day at Basildon

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

an explosive and mightily impressive start from the urchins after two weeks without a league game and some excellent one touch passing saw the urchins race into a 3-0 lead before basildon pulled one back courtesy of a very very sympathetic penalty...

second half and drakey came on for burbridge and the 4th quickly followed........then the ref got injured and the whole afternoon went quiet and anti-climaxish...another strange penalty for basildon to make it 2-4 but the urchins strolled thru the last 15 in pretty impressive style....

a mention for the basildon keeper who was a real character and made several excellent saves (as well as dribbling half the pitch and beating the entire urchin team ....as well as being lucky not to be sent off courtesy of danny cowleys sportsmanship after he handled out of the area)....and another 3 points for the urchins which were needed as the ramblers 'fluked' another win as well...

well done everyone and onto our 'home from home' next week....tilburger...can't wait...

Yes, he did not deserve to be sent off and full credit to Danny Cowley for resolving the matter. (I did not think he had handled the ball, but even if he had, a red card would have been very harsh indeed).

You forgot to mention that no only did he beat the entire Urchins team, he then went back and did it again for an encore.

there certainly were some well dodgy decisions today mate thats for sure....two iffy pens..(ours was nailed on by the way)

at least 3 of the basildononians could have had an early bath...

and how the keeper never went I'll never know...but...

no matter when you get the three points and another plus one in goal difference...

we have averaged 2.6 points per game so far....we need to average 2.1 per game in the remaining ten fixtures..........

long way to go and only 4 at home...

"Climaxish?"

Yeh agreed nice one and so it was after our lads came out all guns blazing, full credit to all the team and with no Danny boy I just wondered if it would have an affect. Of course once again I say it is a squad game and each one played their part.

From my angle the keeper did not handball it and that is why DC kicked he ball off, the ref certainly did not know and methinks blow up too soon, then looked at the lino.... uh!!

Indeed several of the Brazildon players could have walked but the only one that did was the ref, poor chap, hamstring, and once again BF took to the helm, well done mate. Surely this is a point to be considered for every match, what would happen if an official got injured?

Well done also to the travelling band of Urchinites and the Gooner/Dangler mobiles cheers lads.

The sour note for me was the appalling hospitality of the home club, the list is endless never mind the external toilets! The many pre season friendlies we have played there were never like that.

Brilliant first half, no weak points. Second half things certainly dropped a bit, unsurprisingly and the tackles got harsher without the requisite cards following. I detected a slight lack of comfort once the defence was changed around with the formation...3-4-3.

Mention must be made of two fantastic saves by Mickey Collier, albeit we should have been out of sight by then.

Stand out performance by D Cowley, King, Hayes and Tiffin.

Great stuff and onwards to Tilbury!

I thought our "sporting gesture" was made because, quite clearly, we had 4 players obviously and embarrassingly offside and the lino kept his flag down.

Yeah...good shout for Collier, Mitch.

As for Gregginio...Brazillian footie at times. Some great crosses too.

Well Done to ALL the lads.
