Field of dreams

I know a lot of people will question what I say here, but a big congratulations to Roy and his small, yet dedicated team, for getting the pitch ready throughout this summer of water shortages.

From the touchline, the pitch looks awful. However, walk on it and it is flat, has loads of grass on it, and it is fantastic compared to the Brimmo dustbowl of some seasons ago.

Wait for the rain and it will all turn green.

Did you know that some non league games have been called off because thier pitches are unfit to play on?

A big thank you to the Spurs guys last night who cleaned their changing room after the game. This has never happened before in the ESL or SL and they were a credit to their club. Just shows what a professional outfit can do.

No criticism of Roy and his team who have to cope with inadequete watering facilites at Brimsdown, but there was not 'loads of grass on the pitch'.It was a field of complete STRAW.Something that is unavoidable in the current weather conditions unless the ground is regulary and consistantly watered.

For next season,i really think it would benifit the club to see if we could possibly fund a decent watering program for the playing surface.Roys an excellent groundsman but hes not a miricle worker.Without adequete watering,he'll always be totally reliant on the weather in the fight to produce a top playing surface.

From what I understand a new main is required from Goldsdown Road, to provide the required pressure.

This will cost thousands.

The short term solution ( other than the "rain dance" ) would be for the Club to bring in some water bowsers/tankers on a regular basis.

Roy and his team clearly need some assistance to turn the surface green.

Complaining is easy, solutions take a bit of thought!

Oh.

who is having a go at who here ?

What I said was it would cost thousands for a new water main - money thw Club do not have.

A cheaper version would be to tanker it in - a short term solution.

Get a quote from a local road sweeper company.

Your right. No dodgy bounces.Every bouce was a uniform 6 feet high. And it was evenly bone-hard on the 'fields of Gold'.

No criticism of Roy intended. No groundman could have prepared it better without water, but lets not kid ourselves it was easy or pleasant to play on.

Did any one see the Speedway from Poland sunday night and their watercart with the waterfall spraying out of it?
