They're another of those awkward sides who play in a mixture of blue and white - the reason why we had to change our all white second strip to all red (plus it was a b****r to wash).

He's obviously still HertfordBlue at heart!

Perhaps Gavin can cut BroxBoroBlue's hair. Sounds like you're a man after my own heart HTFCew with the old photos, bet you also do all the match reports as you are at every game, I find that there is so much to do on matchdays including all the meeting and greeting and wiping players noses for them that it's difficult to really enjoy it and it can get quite stressful at times. Some Club's have big Committees such as Tring and Leverstock Green and can share the workload but others just have two or three die hards doing everything.

HTFCew - When I called you a 'man after my own heart' on this thread you didn't pick me up on it and point out you were indeed female so I think this added to the confusion. Our 'friend' from Potters Bar Town concientiously produced a decent programme for yesterday's Potters Bar v Hendon friendly, just wondering which other Club's bothered, did Edgware for their game against Wingate and Finchley as I assume there was a decent sized crowd at the White Lion.

No, no programmes for any of the preseason games <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> crowd was around 50ish. I am a little supprised it was a fiver to get in, I think it should have been about £3 for a pre season game.

friendlies should be free I think at SSML level. Makes th £12 for Stevenage v Spurs seem like good value if you ask me!

Gavin - Yes a fiver for your friendly yesterday seems rather over the top particularly with no programme on offer, even a four page effort would have been something and kept the moaners happy.

Don't forget Stevenage and Barnet rely on the income they get from their annual friendlies with Spurs and Arsenal respectively and is part of the agreement to allow them to use Broadhall Way and Underhill for Reserve Team games throughout the season. I set up a friendly for Haringey Borough to play a Spurs XI at the start of this season but the Chairman Aki 'Sugar' Achillea didn't want to know saying that we didn't have the resources to stage the game and somebody would probably get hurt and sue the Club, I think that says it all.

You would think that spurs would send a side down to play a team who play at White Hart Lane, ie, Haringey, seems like the club chairman is missing a good chance to get some people to watch a game boro.

I have to agree, I think that £5 is a bit steep for a pre season game, when its the same as a league game. That said, the club have to make a buck, and cover overheads.

That said, £3 would be more suitable, I also agree that a four page effort would not go a miss, but there you go.

Potters Bar Town - Agreed but try telling the Chairman Aki 'Ellis/Bates' Achillea, and John Bacon for that matter, next time you're down there for a Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League game, they are not interested in speaking to Spurs even after I had painstakingly set up a link with them to help us. They even donated a signed shirt and football following the fire to raise much needed funds but Aki wouldn't even go and collect them, all seems a bit fishy to me.

Now Hoddesdon Town are finally with us on here are they in a position to divulge how many pages their programme is going to be this season as in order to compete with them for the Division 1 and overall award this season I will need to put in a photocopying paper order, I'm thinking a hundred boxes but doubt that will be enough to last a couple of home games. I think it's about time someone gave Jane a proper run for her money other than Broxbourne Borough and Leverstock Green.

Er if HTFCew sees this post before Noon today can you advise and I'll put this poor guy from the another site out of his misery, personally I wouldn't bother with a results grid as I think they are a waste of time and effort:

Can someone please help me before I go mad, I've been given the job of editing Fareham Town's programme this season and like most programmes I've seen, I want to include a results grid in it and with Saturdays programme needing to be ready tomorrow afternoon. Can any one please, please tell me where on earth I am going wrong because I can't see where for the life of me, changed paper from Portrait to Landscape, Clicked Edit and copied grid from my stats floppy disc, back to page and click on paste special and then clicked on putting on as a picture rather than text or formatted text as I was told to do. STILL HALF THE GRID IS MISSING. System I am using is Microsoft office 2000, any help would be appreciated.

I thought you would all be interested to read the SSML ruling on Club Programmes and Websites for this season, enjoy:

‘The home Club is responsible for publishing a full match programme acceptable to the Board for each of its Competition matches, which must include an advertisement for the Competition sponsor(s) where directed by the Board. A team sheet will not be considered sufficient to comply with this Rule. It is not mandatory to produce a programme for matches in Division Two or the Reserve Section. The visiting Club must send in writing to the home Club details of the proposed team they plan to field together with their Club history and up-to-date pen pictures of their current players registered with the Competition for the season at least five days before the scheduled date of the match between the two Clubs. The home Club programme must include the details sent by the visiting Club in the match day programme and a copy of each match day programme shall be sent by the home Club to the Competition (Registration) Secretary within 3 days of the match with the relevant match report form. Clubs will be responsible for all comments in their match day programme in respect of the Competition, the Company or other member Clubs, notwithstanding any disclaimers to the contrary. No part of a Club's programme issued for a match in any competition shall, in the opinion of the Board, bring the Competition or the Company into disrepute. All Clubs will be responsible for their official Website or similar computer related information system, which is within the public domain. Nothing shall be included on the Website which in the opinion of the Board brings the Competition or the Company into disrepute’.

On the subject of Hoddys program, I must say that I think some of the comments thus far on here have been a little inaccurate. Being a Hoddesdon supporter/commitee member I aprreciate that my views could be deemed as biased, however I feel I must defend our honour!!

With regards to input being "up to date" and "relevant", Jane keeps records of everything and i do mean EVERYTHING!!

There is always results, fixtures and league tables (all up to the minute i might add!!) for the Premier, Div 1 and Div 2 as well as the Reserve sections AND all cup competitions that SSMFL clubs compete in. There is also news articles from the surrounding leagues in the local area.

On top of this, there is also appearance records and goal scoring records for both the first team and the reserve sections, all updated on a weekly basis.

If you have ever travelled to Lowfield with your team, I am sure you will apreciate the amount of information there is dedicated to the opposisition in the program too. Jane always runs their history, previous meetings, current form and results, upcoming fixtures as well as any Newspaper reports that have appeared locally in the run up to the game.

Of course, we have adverts like anybody does but they are in no way over the top. In fact, I am sure the Chairman would love to fill it with adverts if it meant we were getting the attatched revenue too!!!

Now there is no need to mention out now legendary "History" section that spans a good 5 pages at the last count!! But in the grand scheme of things this is not out of proportion with other clubs efforts.

Anyway, just to put some clarity on the situation, take a trip over to our place some time this season and judge for yourself. Anyone who comes to the bar clutching a copy of our programme and mentions this Forum will get 10p off their pint. Can't say fairer than that can I? HA!

...

In the away programmes from last season the same two page history of Edgware was reproduced. Some of our home programes had pen pics of the visitors, obvioulsy sent in by the club we were playng.

I wonder if that means that Edgware will have to write pen pics for the players to appear in our away programmes?

Can these details be emailed ?

When did that change? Most League's only ask for a copy of your first home programme. That will cost Rhodes a fortune with his new Hoddesdon-challenging prose, especially given the new Royal Mail pricing structure that starts in a couple of weeks time.
