Scorers –

 

2 minutes – 1-0 - George Purcell ran through and fired in a shot which many thought was going over the bar.

 

38 minutes – 2-0 – Geroge Purcell ran through and scored from outside the area.

 

82 minutes – 3-0 – Paulius Ditkevicius came back on fifteen minutes from the end, and scored with a hard struck free kick after he was brought down on the edge of the area.

 

87 minutes – Vlad Sighiartau finished off a good move when he ran forward, drew the keeper, and neatly slotted home.

 

Other highlights –

David Knight ran through (35m) but his shot was well saved by the home keeper.

 

Leon Smith fired a free kick, on the edge of the area, over the bar (75m)

 

A Billy Coyne free kick, just outside the area, hit the wall and cannoned back (77m).

Yes, it did appear to go over the bar by quite a margin.

 

it also looked offside. I was not sure if the referee was going to give offside or a goal kick, but he solved the problem by awarding a goal. I think the lack of a linesman may have contributed to the confusion. But from where I was standing, the ball did not go into the net.

 

Ilford were somewhat reluctant to restart the match, but we confirmed the score at the interval with the referee.
