Dry spell yet few midweek games!

 

Ridge of Respite

It's the calm after the storm for many Southern areas today as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the South-west.

 

A few rogue showers left across Eastern areas as the winds swing around to a Northerly quarter throughout the day, but for many it'll remain bright, breezy and a tad on the chilly side.

 

A weak, patchy band of rain will head into Ireland overnight tonight and into tomorrow, however this will break up quickly as it runs into the strengthening ridge.

 

A chilly night to come with the risk of mist and fog patches across Central and Southern areas. A widespread ground frost expected tonight with temperatures dropping just below freezing across many areas in the light winds and clear skies.

 

More cold nights to come this week too as high pressure struggles to make a firm grip across Western Europe. Much of the weather this week is likely to be home-grown as opposed to imported cold air-masses.

 

So, a cold and frosty week on the cards with fog becoming an ever growing threat as the week pushes on.
