HTFC - I use the official reports made by Dorkingnews and post them on here as requested by some of the regular posters. Yes I was at the Bookham game.

Here is the FULL DFC report, (NOT written by me, just to clarify any possible confusion !)

____________________

"Dorking’s season was summed up at Ash United on Saturday when the side seemed destined to take all three points in a good display at midtable Ash, only to see a strongly disputed late penalty first peg Chicks back to 2-2, before a 94th minute winner was scored by the home side to really rub salt into the Dorking wounds.

Midway through the second half Dorking had looked capable of taking all three points, as first Tony Jones had scored a great first half effort, then thumped home a 55th minute header to put Dorking first 1-0 up, then 2-1 up, and with 20 minutes to go Chicks had even looked like extending their lead as a succession of chances to kill the game came their way. Even the disputed in the 85th minute had not seemed to deter Dorking who had looked as likely to snatch a late winner as the relieved home side, and Chicks had not deserved the sickener of a last minute defeat in this manner.

Manager Tony Webb was still missing Joshua Smith, but Dan Lawrence and Danny Stassinos, both of whom had been on the bench in the defeat by Bedfont Green having been suffering knocks, were restored to the starting line up. Jones started up front with Tyrone Walker who had played in the Bedfont Green game.

Ash are having a quiet season by their high standards, and were suffering something of an injury glut that saw several first teamers missing, and the first half saw Dorking shade proceedings, taking the lead on the half hour through Jones, only to cheaply concede their advantage 7 minutes later when Weeks equalised for the home side.

Dorking started the second period the stronger, and Lester Boniface had had two good chances to put Chicks back in front before Dorking did indeed make it 2-1. It was no more than Chicks deserved when in the 55th minute Jones scored his second for the team. Dorking were dominating things now and looked like extending their lead as Dorking adapted the better to the wet conditions, and Stassinos was mighty close to making the game safe with 20 minutes to go, his shot just tipped over by the Ash keeper.

With the clock ticking down, Dorking looked like notching up a vital win as the team seek to erode the big gap that has opened up between themselves and the bottom clutch of clubs following RAynes Park Vales recent improvement in form, but as has so often happened this season, Dorking could not close out a game they should have won, with perhaps the substitution of Jones for a slight injury with 15 minutes to go proving a pivotal moment. The equalising goal came from a penalty 5 minutes from time, Evans scoring comfortably past Roberts in the Dorking goal from the spot kick after Dorking had fiercely opposed the award of the penalty after McCormick had challenged in the Dorking box.

Still Dorking pushed forward, Webb no doubt believing that his side needed the full three points if they are to produce a Houdini act as the season draws to its final climax. In a game that had seen few stoppages, somehow the otherwise impressive ref added on 5 minutes of added time and in the final minute of stoppage time, Ash broke and scored through Scott to steal the points in what had been an entertaining game

Manager Webb will know that if the worst happens, and Dorking are indeed relegated to CCL Division 1, that if he can keep this squad of players together, then Chicks should be able to regroup. Webb must be given credit for perservering in what has been a difficult season, and he shows no sign of giving up on catching RPV and Cobham immediately above Chicks in the table until that is a mathematical impossibility. Much will depend on Dorking picking up points in their games this weekend as first they trave on Easter Saturday to a Bedfont side who have been through a recent dip in form, before playing a home Easter Monday game against Bookham, whose win against Horley at the weekend sees them climb to 6th from bottom. The Easter Monday game against Bookham will kick off at 11-30am.

Team:

Chris Roberts, Gerry Howells, Alex Hill, Paul McCormick, Roy Newman, Dan Clayton, Lester Boniface, Dan Lawrence, Tony Jones , Tyrone Walker, Danny Stassinos Used Subs – Tom Ahmed, Alex Wheeler"

I don't have much to do with Dorking Girls these days but will find out for you.

The Chix League seems to be in dis-array with teams dropping out and pitches being unplayable recently through weather.

They are improving in their first full season. At least they are getting some points at last. Problem will be next season when we loose another three through age. Recruitment always seems to be a problem with girls. Don't know why.

Don't see why he can't !

Thermals though, I think. Just popped up the shop and that North-Easterly wind is like a knife.
