Admission Prices

Recommended Posts

A good idea to offer discounted prices for Family Admission, but shouldn't this be better advertised? I was only aware that the discount applied after a steward approached me outside the entrance , asked if I had 2 kids, and told me it would be cheaper going through the family entrance - it cost

I thought this had been decided already? Bearing in mind the club are already selling season tickets and mini season tickets, isn't it a bit late to change it now seeing as a number of us have bought these based on the discount we'd receive from the advertised admission prices?

You're be using that soon, eh Stuart? smile

The Family Entrance comes under my "JFDI" policy for the club. One I learned at Dell. It stands for "Just Do It". Well, almost wink There's a long story behind it.

A queue built up because a) The turnstile was sticking, luckily we had Roly available to put the boot in - he seemed quite practiced :-) and B) the operator had to calculate lots of different price variations.

So grease and oil from Maurice, a ready reckoner pinned to the wall for the operator and probably the turnstile next door labelled as a Family Entrance too.

Now we have to turn it into a place where families can go without having to listen to the sort of abuse that was heard on Saturday, causing quite a few to leave early. And we're not going to hang around on that issue, either.

From "Ground Regulations", published in every issue of Fleet Life...

6 The following are offences under the football offences and disorder act of 1999...

>The use of.. foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest or eviction.

Nothing more needs to be said - it now just needs to be done.

But this is only an observation. It doesn't really answer the question at all. Isn't this a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted given the decision already taken on season ticket prices?

On Saturday my partner and I brought her grandchildren down to watch the game 5/7 year old. As we are season ticket holders my partner had to go in first, I then had to pay for the kids to enter the children's entrance, before being able to enter myself.

If I/her had been on our own, the kids would have had to stand in a strange environment on there own. OK not for long, unless you catch a small Que, but long enough all the same. There needs to be a general family entrance that can accommodate all comers.

You know, when I decided to do the Family Entrance, I didn't even think of that scenario, sorry frown. Leave it with me.

Busta's experience is certainly not unique. While I was queuing up on Saturday there were two men with two children in front of me. A steward came over and very helpfully asked if they wished to use the family entrance. The man, who it became clear was the father of the two children, asked if he could use that entrance as he had a season ticket. The steward said that he wouldn't be able to. In fact the other man then took the children through the new family entrance and the season ticket holder went through his designated gate to meet them inside. If he had not been accompanied by another adult the family entrance (ie adults and children using the same turnstile) would not have been of any assistance at all.
