Epsom and Ewell 3 Chertsey Town 2

..... do want to talk about it !

After a couple of times leaving John Pomroy not very marked to trail 2-0 this became the classic film script match with the roll the credits ending of Robble Burns tap in deep into injury time to make it 3-2 . Credit should go to both teams for a very high quality game which showed the league in a good light.

The 1-2 goal from Ben Hayward gave us a lifeline back into the game . A thoroughly committed driving performance throughout the second half from the whole team achieved the win to one of the loudest

rland murmurs in recent years .

The challenge now is can we reproduce something near that level of performance against teams lower down the table .. but for now I'll enjoy a great performance and a bit of cracking banter with the Cherstey supporter atthe end whose "how much did they pay you linesnman was trumped by our "how much did you pay your team?"

came froma goal back to win. Started poorly but slowly but surely got into the game & scored twice just before halftime. Got a third midway into the 2nd & held out to now be at home to local arch rivals badshot lea in the 1st round. Only down point was a couple more injuries to the list we have already got

Very s[****!!****]y ground down at Lancing. It appears to also be the Sussex FA headquarters and has a brand new stand with padded seats for all (not bad for £4 entry!). Downsides are the car park is pay and display (!) and officious nonsense like signs with 'no food & drink to be brought in' at the turnstiles. Lucky I didn't buy a bottle of water from the corner shop then. Pitch was amazing, although BJR said they have 2 full time groundsman on tap so maybe not such a surprise.

Chicks wasted a fair few chances (well Pagey did), but a win at last.

Ash United 3-1 Tunbridge Wells.

Very solid performance, we play Badshot Lea in the next round, meaning we have them twice in four days, Saturday the 3rd of October in the Vase, then again on Tuesday the sixth, both at home. We played some good stuff at time today, and maintain our 100% home record.

Chessington on Tuesday!

Lancing 2-4 Dorking. After extra time. 2-2 at f/t and Chicks twice came from behind.

Dorking notched their first win of the season on Saturday at Lancing’s immaculate ground, Dorking eventually edging past the Sussex Division 2 side in extra time having twice come from behind in 90 minutes.

Dorking now play fellow CCL side Chertsey on Saturday 3 October at Meadowbank, Dorking, with the scheduled home league game versus Bedfont for that day being postponed.

Lancing’s pitch was first class, and the surrounding ground new with the Sussex FA having chosen the Lancing ground as their headquarters, and the surroundings certainly made for an entertaining game. Lancing were certainly up for the game against higher league opposition in Dorking and manager Tony Webb knew that his side were in for a battle, Lancing sitting in the top half of their division going into the game. Dorking were however boosted by the return of last season’s captain, centre back Roy Newman, Newman adding steel to the Dorking defence, with aerial strength that Dorking have perhaps missed so far this season.

Webb will feel that Dorking should really have won the game with something to spare, but missed opportunities made Dorking’s task all the harder, last season’s top scorer Phil Page uncharacteristically wasting at least three good chances after he had worked his way into good positions. Dorking will hope that the side can now push on to turn good performances in the league into points, with Croydon hosting Dorking in a league game next weekend. Before that Dorking will face Farliegh Rovers in a league cup game on Tuesday 22 September at MEadowbank, kick off 7-45pm.

Dorking dominated the opening 30 minutes of the half, but Lancing were able to draw first blood when scoring on 40 minutes to take the lead against the run of play. That lead did not last long, Joe Loyza notching his second goal in three games since his return to the club just 3 minutes after Lancing had taken the lead meaning that honours were shared at the interval.

The second half carried on much as the first half had developed, and once more it was the home team who took advantage of some wasteful Dorking finishing to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes to sparee. Almost in a carbon copy of what had happened in the first period, Dorking were only behind for a matter or 3 or 4 minutes, this time Dan Lawrence saving the Dorking blushes by equalising with 10 minutes to go. Neither side could deliver the knock out blow in ordinary time, so the game then went into extra time, with both sides fitness levels on a warm and humid afternoon being tested to the full.

To Webb’s relief, it was Dorking who finally got their noses in front just 4 minutes into extra time, Dan Lawrence scoring the goal of the game to make it 3-2 to Dorking. Soon after, Phil Page made sure of victory to make it 4-2 on 103 minutes, Dorking killing the game after taking that decisive lead to earn the home tie versus Chertsey in the next round.

Hartley 1 East Grinstead 2 AET

We were very unlucky on Saturday and on another day we could have won by 5 or 6. There keeper kept them in the game with 3 or 4 great saves and the ball just wouldn’t go in for us.

We took a well deserved lead in the first half and they never looked like scoring unless we gave them a goal and that’s what we did, keeper fumbles cross and falls to their forward who bundled home, game went to extra time and after a miss kick clearance the ball fell to matey on the edge of the box his shot deflected off me straight into the path of their captain who passed the ball into the net for 2-1. They somehow held on for the win.

Very disappointed losing this game as it was a game we dominated from start to finish apart from maybe 10 minutes in the second half. Will take the positive that this team beat Chessington and Hook and Cove already this year obviously the league above which means we are heading in the right direction.

Another tough game on Tuesday against Bedfont in the cup.

If anyone has played them recently would appreciate any info! PM me please!!
