Kentish Town's Future In Doubt

Recommended Posts

According to today's hot off the press Islington Gazette, which I can't find a link to at the moment, Kentish Town fear that they are about to lose their Copthall Stadium home to Saracens Rugby Club. Apparently the Club's new Chase Lodge site will not be available for use for two or three years yet:

Here's another link, this time from BBC News, I'm surprised Nellie hasn't come out of hiding as yet to put Kentish Town's perspective across as these must be worrying times for the Club:

Another interesting article, it's certainly all kicking off where the Copthall Stadium is concerned isn't it:

Saracen's interest most definitely isn't 'hot off the press'...just old rehashing of old news....we (Watford) want decent dosh for them wrecking our pitch, they (egg chasers South Africa limited) have tried everywhere else (40 enquires we're led to believe) and poor old copthall it is again....will the NIMBY's win again aka Barnet 2001?

A hot off the press article indicating that Saracens are still very keen to use the Copthall Stadium next season which will leave Kentish Town high and dry:

Hardly hot off the press, it's a week old and doesn't really say much more than the other articles.

It's quite sad to read this article and realise that Kentish Town's ambitious plans for the future could well be scuppered:

An interesting link from the BBC Sport Website with draft plans for a redeveloped Copthall Stadium of Twickenham proportions. I see that the Athletics Club's Treasurer, namely Geoff Morphitis, who nodded through the groundshare with Kentish Town, is quoted as saying "this is a tremendous opportunity in these difficult financial times to refurbish a stand that is nearly 50 years old and to bring in new facilities, this would ensure the venue can continue to host top class athletics meetings and serve as a valuable sports facility for the Local Community".:

More amazing drawing board pictures of what Saracens propose to do with the Copthall Stadium as well as some interesting 'Board' comments but no mention at all of Kentish Town and what is going to happen to the beleaguered Club:

I see that Kentish Town finally get a brief mention in this article from the Watford Observer however it is still likely they will be unceremoniously rode roughshod over by Saracens:

According to today's Hendon & Finchley Times, Saracens have as good as moved into the Copthall Stadium already with their Chairman Nigel Wray pictured outside the main entrance:

According to today's Hendon & Finchley re-cycled toilet paper Rhodes is jealous that a club that threw him out by the scruff of the neck are now going places, and that's not the cremitorium like his last club Tick Tok,
