Tough one for the boys in orange, losing 5-2. No details have really emerged from these friendlies, yet. I guess we will get back to our proper coverage when the first fixture of the league campaign starts.

An interesting post match interview with Corby Town boss Gary Setchell following their 5-2 win at McMullen Park on Tuesday evening, he is very complimentary and states that Real Bedford 'will definitely be a Step Four side next season' (in 2024/25) and also tips Rob Sinclair's men to have a good run in the FA Vase as 'worse teams have won the FA Vase in previous seasons'. Gary was of course Manager of Bedford Town previously and was unceremoniously shown the door at The Eyrie in November last year, after less than two years in charge, having taken the Club to the Southern League Division One Central Championship the season before, winning it by ten points, scoring 100 League goals and losing just three games. Good luck to Corby Town and Gary Setchell for their season ahead in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands:

Bad news folks, this evening's friendly fixture at SSML Division One Cranfield United has been called off due to  the persistent rain in Bedfordshire today, it's a shame however Cranfield United are very 'precious' about their beautiful playing surface which will be by far the best in the SSML:

MATCH POSTPONED

Regrettably this evenings preseason friendly fixture vs Real Bedford FC has been postponed. Update on any potential rescheduled fixture to follow.

Does anybody have any ideas of any Real Bedford players from last season who have left the club?

Only 1 I have heard of definitely left is Harry Murray to Cranfield.

Dan Walker and Tom Hitchcock are definitely still there, and I assume Jordan Brown and Kevin Owusu also.

Apologies folks, I meant to report that Bedford Ladies took on Southern Region Women's League Premier Division Wycombe Wanderers Ladies last Sunday (16 July) at McMullen Park and, wait for it, Real Bedford Ladies won 7-0, this bodes hugely well for the eagerly awaited Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division campain ahead:

I wonder whether Milton Keynes Irish will visit McMullen Park again on Saturday 19 August, they must be narrow favourites to beat Dunstable Town at Manor Fields.

I see that Essex Senior League FC Clacton have got the tie up on their website, the seaside Club have played at their compact Rush Green Bowl stadium since November 1987 and first entered the FA Cup in 2007/08 participating ever since but never going beyond the Second Qualifying Round when, in 2013/14, they lost at North Greenford United after a replay having done well to beat Sporting Bengal United, Hullbridge Sports and Brentwood Town on route:

The draws for the early rounds of the FA Cup, FA Vase and FA Youth Cup were made public yesterday, with the Seasiders receiving a full house of home ties! The First Team will welcome Real Bedford in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup on Saturday, 5th August. 'The Pirates' will play their football in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division this season, having been promoted from Division One as Champions at the end of last term. The winners will be at home to either Milton Keynes Irish or Dunstable Town in the Preliminary Round a fortnight later.

Sorry folks, I hate to do this but, for ease of reference, here are Bedford Town's fixtures for the forthcoming campaign. It's interesting that on Tuesday 15 August both Real Bedford and Bedford Town are at home and will presumably attract decent size crowds, particularly local rivals Barton Rovers visiting The Eyrie, I wonder whether a Police presence might be required:

A disappointing 4-0 defeat for Real Bedford at McMullen Park against Southern League Division One Central AFC Dunstable on Saturday.
