Enfield Town v Brightlingsea Regent

Meanwhile, a curious encounter involving our opponents of last Saturday, Wingate & Finchley.

82 minutes gone, Bowers are cruising to victory 3-0 up in front of a 'crowd' of 77.

Cue a quite remarkable come back with Wingate scoring 4 in the final minutes - including one from their Goalkeeper who came up for a corner - to win it 4-3!

Strange game really.   Again.

Don't think we started the game that well, and neither keeper had a great deal to do first half apart from Jake being fouled on a short back pass.

Brightlingsea didn't offer that much going forwards and until the 2nd half we didn't really get to grips with their back 5 and them playing a 5  3  2.

I don't think hitting the ball long against a back 5 was effective....and they dealt quite well with anything played from back to front.

1 nil was probably a fair reflection at half time, and was frustrating when they scored with a free header from 6 yds out.   Both teams came out to attack more second half and we created more by overloading to attack their right and left back, and also building up play through the midfield.  One of our best chances came from Scott striking across the ball from probably 20+ yards with a first time shot which their keeper did well to tip over.

Would say that we ground out the result and Andre looked lively whenever he got on the ball and deserved his penalty.

Was slightly frustrating that quite a few of our players were having a pop at each other instead of encouraging.   Guess when we need results though this is likely to happen in close games.

Positive for me....think the ref was the best I've seen at Donkey Lane this season.  Was a shout for hand ball 2nd half, however don't think it was and only recall him getting one decision wrong when he gave a throw in for us when the ball clearly came off Marcus.   However, those aside he had a strong game, spoke to players when necessary and also produced cards when required.

Tough couple of games coming up so hopefully can stay in the mix and keep getting points.
