A feast of a display.

Well after waterlogged pitches and away fixtures I couldn't get to, today was a pleasure to say the least. This was never going to be easy, the form guide had us on an unbeaten run since last year and Ricay struggling to get anything. Local rivals were never going to be easy and Ricay are always a tough opponent. With a first eleven that picks itself, only real change was Nashy starting and Jo on the bench.

A great crowd were in for a treat on this beautiful spring day. Ricay pressed pretty hard for the first 20 mins with not much to show for it, we showed glimpses but the final ball was wanting. Finally some great play, a shot from Da Silva saved and the ball for a tap in from Femi, Ricay heads went down and the half ended with not much more to talk about.

Second half and more press and physical from Ricay led to some amazing saves from Joe before the pressure earned a deserved equaliser. Then in the blink of an eye the game turned Scannell on the wing earning us a set play and up pops Ryan Scott to recover our lead. Minutes later and more Scannell magic on the wing, led to an opportunity for the man himself to slot one home. Two goal advantage, but still Ricay pressed to try to equal the quality and teamwork they faced. Unfortunately, the wage earner was there to slot his second of the day, in the dying minutes to pay the bills. 4-1 final score over 1200 viewed a great spectacle and I was glad I was there to witness this one.

Three more point and my appetite soothed for another day. Roll on Tuesday!

Also we have qualified for play offs with 8 games remaining.

A great achievement that should not be overlooked even though our ambitions for this season are set higher.

First half was pretty even, chances were limited but we took ours when it came. Then just after second half, we had 3 golden opportunities to kill the game and didn’t take them and with a team of ricays quality regardless of form you’re always running the risk of them equalising which they did. Then we had to survive a Ricay onslaught for 5-10 mins which they could easily have gone 2-1 up in. We then got a corner out of nowhere and got a goal from it which killed the momentum they had and we just kicked on from there. Deserved the win, the scoreline was maybe a little harsh for Ricay but we will take it. Would give man of the match to Wright, thought he made some good stops and his handling was excellent. Chatham dropping points also make it a great weekend, nearly there. Onto Tuesday
