Today's Press Release

Recommended Posts

Fleet manager Andy Ford today announced the signing of midfield general Jay Saunders from local rivals Margate.

Saunders spent two years at Gillingham as a YTS before playing for Fleet for one season at the beginning of Ford's reign at Gravesend & Northfleet. Joined Margate in the 1997/8 season.

He is known for the occasional spectacular goal and his tough tackling in the centre of the team.

Not with me, but I do remember him playing.

I don't think we played any games in Wales that year <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I remember him playing for us. He came after being released from Gills and looked a bit lightweight, this has obviously changed and I've always thought him quite good when he's played against us.

Hmmm, I recall similar but then I thought that about Bullard too...and look where he is now!
Jay would appear to be a good replacement for Rob Owen.

'Likely' replacement?

Do you know something we don't?

I sincerely hope not. As has already been said, Jacko served the club well, but he wouldn't be an automatic first choice now. If we're pushing for a play-off place next season, definitely a step backwards.
