I suppose I could hope for a postponement as I won't be able to go to the game, but fat chance if the pitch stood up so well to the bad weather before the North Greenford game!

Unfortunately I won't be at Goldsdown Road because the game clashes with the National Homebrew Festival at Sutton. You would have thought that the FA and the Craft Brewers Association would have got their act together and avoided the clash!

As you may remember, Andy Davison won the title of Overall Champion at last year's festival with an American Pale Ale called "Atlantean Dew" and has been an insufferably smug git ever since. He is defending his title with a mild (called "Frogswisher", I think) and a wheat beer (called "Kloenk") and I will be there to see him lose his crown! Either that or he will do the impossible and be the first brewer ever to win the title twice and will become an eternally insufferably smug git in the process!

The wheat beer was going to be called "English Summer's Day" because it was wet and cloudy but somehow it dropped bright (i.e. cleared) so Andy is hoping that using the name of another Jan Akkerman track will help him win again. Not too sure about that. Still, last year there were 54 different beers and only one duff one so I should enjoy myself!

Good luck to Town and apologies for my absence.

Is there no way Andy could squeaze in a reference to ETFC in his beer titles in the future.

How about 'pride of middlesex' or 'Enfields Town's Best' or something along them lines. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/pipe.gif" alt="" />

Well, he did brew Southbury Road Black Armband (a very bitter stout) to mourn the passing of the old ground, an IPA called Revival to celebrate the new club (the first batch was brewed on the day of our first ever game) and a not-particularly-mild mild called Middlesex Dark Ruby. Revival, if I remember correctly, put our esteemed chairman to sleep! I think Ron Merlin tried all of those three so no doubt he could tell you how good they were.

Everyone has missed the point. The three biggest numptiest comments of the season so far are:

1) Junior-What does tomato juice taste of?

2) Mary-Where does Southport come from?

3) Chopper-i bet you go to the butchers and buy a fish!

Maybe we can give an award for the best one at the end of season awards!

who the hell is Jan Akkerman (i aint that old remember)

Back in 1973 a band called Focus got two instrumentals into the top 10 at the same time (Hocus Pocus and Sylvia) - something which I think only the Shadows had done before. Jan Akkerman was the guitarist. He is one of the best in the world. Ever. He's still going, as a solo artist.

I wanted to see Focus when they played at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park in 1973 but I wasn't allowed to go because I was too young. I had to wait 30 years to get to see them but it was well worth the wait (no Akkerman these days though).

There is an Akkerman track called "Atlantean Dew" which is what Andy called his winning beer last year. He decided to use "Kloenk", the name of another Akkerman track, for his wheat beer this year after it cleared. Apparently it has started clouding again but not very much.

OK I accept might be one of the best guitarist but how does he rate against Gordon Giltrap.

Now Saturday. I think you are all bl**dy lazy. Especially you Junior.

Get up at around 8:00 am to get to Ladbroke Grove to do an inspection and report, should be at Hounslow by 10:30 am (Some hope) for another inspection and report and then round the M25 back to Hemel if early for Fish and Chips pick up papers which tomorrow will be, Guardian, Tribune, Nursery World and ehm........ thats it.

If no time for F and C as I am running late rush to Brimmo to arrive around 2:30 quick pint. Watch Town do their best (If they do not then I will be really angry and shout at them following game against Basildon when many players were ...........). Then home for around 6:00pm. Relax, read papers and then watch telly but may be asleep by 8:00 especially if Casualty is on.

Now tonight! AGM of our investment club. To White Lion for Pride at 5:30 pm till 8:00 then to K2 where I expect the evening to degenerate to mayhem - it usually does. Walk home along the canal careful not to fall in around 12:00.
