I suppose I could hope for a postponement as I won't be able to go to the game, but fat chance if the pitch stood up so well to the bad weather before the North Greenford game!

Unfortunately I won't be at Goldsdown Road because the game clashes with the National Homebrew Festival at Sutton. You would have thought that the FA and the Craft Brewers Association would have got their act together and avoided the clash!

As you may remember, Andy Davison won the title of Overall Champion at last year's festival with an American Pale Ale called "Atlantean Dew" and has been an insufferably smug git ever since. He is defending his title with a mild (called "Frogswisher", I think) and a wheat beer (called "Kloenk") and I will be there to see him lose his crown! Either that or he will do the impossible and be the first brewer ever to win the title twice and will become an eternally insufferably smug git in the process!

The wheat beer was going to be called "English Summer's Day" because it was wet and cloudy but somehow it dropped bright (i.e. cleared) so Andy is hoping that using the name of another Jan Akkerman track will help him win again. Not too sure about that. Still, last year there were 54 different beers and only one duff one so I should enjoy myself!

Good luck to Town and apologies for my absence.

Is there no way Andy could squeaze in a reference to ETFC in his beer titles in the future.

How about 'pride of middlesex' or 'Enfields Town's Best' or something along them lines. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/pipe.gif" alt="" />

Or how about "It's the Referee's fault...."

1973 when was that! well well before my time!

Chopper, 1973 was the year after 1972 & in 1972 i sat to the right of the royal box at wembley & watched (with my rosette my Nan had made) Bloody Hendon beat Enfield 2-0 in the Amateur Cup Final.
I remember crying when the players collected their medals, thought you were the keeper that day!!!!!!!!!
Thankfully have had many happier times since.
None more so than the penalty shootout at Baldock in the FA Cup, Chopper "THAT" penalty save will live in my memory bank forever, my mates & me were left open mouthed for an age before believing what we had seen & going ballistic.
Your now going to tell me you dont remember it arent you!!

I also remember a very young Danny Alleyne coming on as sub and scoring, some midfielder called Simpson i think (only played a few games)we got from Yeovil delivering a peach of a cross on to James Bunn's head to score! Also remember ending up on a farm somewhere on A505 trying to take a shortcut to avoid traffic on the way there! oh happy days!!!

I was on the phone giving someone a live commentry from behind the net and even then the last save seemed to be in slow motion.

A GREAT memory.
