Referee's

hers one to think about. Your player gets booked/sent off and travels to a hearing miles away from where they live on a cold night in December. He sits in a little room where he is treated like a criminal. The referee/Assistant is telling porkies and after much debate the players gets off. Why dont we make a new rule if the player gets off the official (obviously in the wrong) gets the fine and the suspension. Maybe it will make them think twice about carding players for stupid things.

Answers on a post card to I hate the Ref because.................

******Please note, not all referees are useless there are some fine officials in this and any other league.*****

You don't (and obviously can't) explain all the circumstances, but as someone who reffed many years ago (at a very low level) I would think it is very unusual for a ref to "tell porkies". He/she is likely to have been explaining the situation as he/she saw it, which may well be different to how you and the player saw it, and may indeed be in error. Refs are only human and have a lot of things to keep an eye on, but the system must be working as your player was exonerated at the hearing.

The ref also had to travel miles to get to the hearing, and probably has to go to many more than the players.

What winds me up is when people come out in defence of referees saying they are only doing it for the love of the game and without them we would not be able to play. The latter is true, but they are not all just doing it for the love of the game. Whereas players and management do.

For a start, in the Eastern Junior Alliance league the going rate is £30 a game. Sometimes a ref will do two games on the same day if they are not too far apart. One kicking off at 11:00am and the other at 2:00pm. Also, I'm convinced many referees are just on a power trip, probably henpecked indoors and take it out on players and their management on matchdays.

As in all walks of life, there are good ones and bad ones. The good ones really are appreciated, whereas the bad ones can make you homicidal. There, rant over!!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/flame.gif" alt="" />

man sees a sign stating pies 50p W***s £1 he walks up to the young girl at the stall and asks "are you the one giving w***s for a £1?"

"Yes" she replies

"well go wash your hands I want a pie"
