Where was McCarthy for the goal? He wasn't man of the match.

 

I'm no saying that you shouldn't shout abuse at the players you pay your money it's your perogative, but wheres the enjoyment in it? If your team loses and you don't give them support then whose really to blame?

Personal abuse is too obvious in our ground. The players hear it. I'm sick to death of the argument that paying admission entitles you to be a cowardly little fart & abuse people from whom you'd run a mile, one to one.

 

Keep the negative thoughts to yourself is what any real fan does. The support from the Northfleet end was superb 2nd half, even before it became obvious we'd taken the game over. Definitely instrumental in our recovery.

 

Well done those people - & Mr McCarthy Abuser: find the stone you came from, crawl back under it & die.

Whats the point at getting at individuals when its the team thats playing crap? It was McCarthys mistake for the goal (pretty obviously) but is it going to make him play better by slagging him off every time he gets near the ball? Sometimes silence is far more effective than "over the top vitriolic abuse." As it happens, I thought that our first half performance was absolutely diabolical, not forgetting that Wilko was lucky to still be on the pitch as that was a stonewall handball when the forward broke through, we were lucky not to be 2 down and down to 10 men, but I'm not going to slag off a team so obviously lacking in confidence.

 

As I have said before, in my opinion, McCarthy is a good player and I believe that he and Porter will form an effective partnership. Mind you I may change my mind after the Carlisle game. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

 

As for the moaners at the back of the Covered End? Well in the 10 years or so that I've been going, thats always happened and if thats what gives them as buzz, well its not something that will change overnight. I don't hurl abuse at the players ,and always give 100% support whilst at the ground.

 

But I do pays me money, so am entitled to an opinion.

I am afraid to say Paul Mc at the back worries me. A long way off the pace again today. He must have it in his locker somewhere , as a player doesn't run up as many league appearances as he has otherwise.

Lets hope we start to see it for the Fleet soon, or I can see our defensive woes continuing.

I think Macca isn't our only problem. Jacko looked well off the pace as wingback. He looked like a veteran left back playing out of position, only looking better after half time.

What was wrong with the Mousse's boots? It looked like he was wearing 10 pin bowling shoes he was skidding so much. Perhaps he could invest in some studs.

Roy looked out of it. I told my mate that Manny should have subbed him after 20 minutes , he was that poor. Little wonder he hasn't scored for 17 or so games!! I don't know whether it's a fitness or confidence thing, or a bit of both, but he must play down the line of the centre circle to the penalty spot, with his co striker off his shoulder to be effective. NOT on the right wing by the dug outs.

Thank god Jay put in his usual performance. And to think only a year ago I was slagging him off. Sorry, Jay.

Manny is a must starter in place of Roy, showed some good touches, genuine pace and got in some good scoring positions.

Appalling first half, reasonable 2nd half.

Thank goodness Histon were so poor. I must confess I don't particularly like teams that start time wasting after 15 minutes.

At least our second goal wiped the smug grin from the Histon No 5's face after we had complained about his time wasting.

The Reporter said Roy was having a late fitness test on a Hamstring Strain - no doubt that was part of the reason for his performance today.

 

We definitely need fresh blood up front - that moment in the first half when Pinno's shot was pilt by their keeper, and about 4 of their players rushed to clear it, while none of ours was on hand to tuck it away, said it all really.

However, putting the Dagenham debacle and the Aldershot defeat aside, our record in terms of goals conceded has improved recently, in comparison with our usual Conference rate of shipping goals. More clean sheets have been evident in the past few weeks, which is encouraging.

Admittedly, though, McCarthy doesn't always put me at ease either. He was easily outmuscled for Histon's goal today, and although he partly redeemed himself with some impressive second half challenges, I agree that pace can be a problem.

Agreed, it appears that a certain more moronic section of the crowd are stuck in the past. Commenting on how good Shearer was or wasn't is pointless - he doesn't play for us anymore.
