Hi TC.

I noticed your post on The Iron message board concerning the proposed re-development. Clearly, you are not subject to an ASBO on there.

Subject of course to verification from reliable sources, it would seem that Braintree Town FC have obtained 'Outline Planning Permission' for residential redevelopment on 1 acre of their land, but to accommodate that scheme, all or part of the stadium at Cressing Road will need to be moved or, more probably, re-developed. I suspect that they don't have Planning Permission for that part of the overall scheme and it is that to which Buzz Lightyear is referring when he talks about another application in November.

I wonder whether they have in mind to apply for a grant from the Football Foundation or Sport England or whatever its called? It might open a, what's the expression, can of old worms if they do.

I have a couple of contacts there and I'll make some enquiries.

Hi Gazza.

You know that I have some kind of ASBO from the Iron message board? Well Andy g has put up a message illuminating a sub-plot from last night's 'Mike Bassett' episode and, forgetting where I was for a moment, I responded. It wont last long so I thought that I would reproduce it here:

Andy g said:
"Just been watching the 2nd episode of Mike Bassett on ITV, much better than the film.
A classic tonight he signed a player on loan from Ajax who couldn't speak a word of english thinking he was a striker, halfway through the 1st half gets him warmed up and then tells him to go on and do what he done for Ajax.
So he did, he ran straight into the penelty area and caught the ball and gave away a penalty.
You see his position at Ajax was a goalkeeper."
Great T.V .

I replied:
"A goalkeeper, was he?

I saw the programme but didn't get that gag at the time. Thanks for that, Andy g."

Fair play to Andy for that one. A goalkeeper. Caught the ball. Came on as sub. Gave away a penalty. Geddit? Subtle.
Aff it was posted for the people that didn't actually see it.
Take the piss all you like mate, water off a duck's back to me.
Talking to a couple of mates down the speedway last week ,who happen to be St Albans fans and your name came up, and reading your post's on this forum and from what i was told, you come over as a complete [****!!****]. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" />

Hi Andy g.

Thanks for those few words, Andy. Someone once said that you have to have thick skin to come on these boards. Me? I bruise too easily.

Speedway eh? Saintsfans? Who was that then? Did you mention Buzz Lightyear's name to them by any chance? Whatever they may have said about me, the stories about him would make far more fascinating listening.

What is frustrating for me, Andy is that Fatboy took an awful lot of people in during his first two years at Clarence Park and, looking back, its amazing but I can see how it happened. People like you believe that it's all going well because you want it to all be going well. Mark (Flag) Braintree is the same.

I don't know you but I've met Mark and I know a [very] little about him. He is a true Iron fan, and I am concerned for him and all like him at your place. I wouldn't wish what happened at Clarence Park on my worst enemy and you guys don't come anywhere near that.

We have a Supporters Club at The Mighty Saints. There was a matchday when Buzz arranged to meet the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of that Committee at 2.00 for a meeting to discuss Club business. That day, the matchday programmes weren't delivered to the ground until 2.05. Very late as you will appreciate. After their meeting had started. By remarkable co-incidence, the Chairman's notes in that programme carried a vitriolic attack on the Supporters Club Committee. However hurtful to those guys, that's just a minor, miniscule story to make you think. There are plenty of others of much more far-reaching consequences.

You will learn the hard way Andy. We did.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

If you consider Andy the incident with the sending off last Tuesday. The announcer having instruction to announce it? If I was asked to do the same I'd hand my mic back to the chairman and ask him to do the job himself. And if I did the same, I'd expect the chairman to take the mic away. It gives the measure of the man. I thought you liked to be thought of as sporting chaps...where is the sportsmanship in that!!! And only when under threat of being reported does IW inform his announcer to not to do it again...Hmmmm...certainly gives the measure of your chairman and the line he is taking with your club.

IW quotes Moderator rules. The last one is a hoot

"- The appropriate Forum Moderator has the right to edit, censor, delete or otherwise modify any posted message".

It should say "within reason" but what IW does is edit any post he wants or disagrees with. As a moderator of this forum, I could morderate your's, Thornsy's, IW's and Ozbrits. As it is I don't. You have every right to say (within reason) what you want on this forum...hell...even Peter Foster is welcome on here (just to explain how he knows all those juicy bits he keeps on rambling on about on various other forums that involve this club).

Perhaps IW moderates AFF (Peter) because he doesn't have an answer and it's easier to deal with that way. Perhaps you should ask the same questions...Then again, I've been told, it's not wise to bite that hand that feeds you, no matter how short or long term.

Aff thanks for your concerne but we have nothing to be afraid of.At Braintree Aff,from the chairman ,directors, right down to the guy that cleans the dressing rooms (hang on that's me)are like family and if you attack one you attack us all. I also was told how bitter you are and also that you have a venomous tongue, but you can't hurt us, we are stronger than that.

Braintree Town will continue to grow in the future coz the future is what we're interested in mate not the past.

Gazza sorry to disappoint you but the person that looks after Bomber ,setting up his equipment, instructions and so on is me.
What happened Tuesday was an honest mistake, you see mate it's Bomber's first season and i informed him to make all announcments such as substitutions,as well as plugging the club shop,T hut, bar, etc.so you see Gazza it's down to me as i failed to tell him that you don't announce sending off's.
So if you use your head and think about it that is why he announced the Hampton sending off and not the Braintree one, because he wasn't told until after the first sending off.
I hope this clear's things up and that this particular subject can be now put to bed.
