Danny Hockton has been transferred to Margate FC.

 

I would like to assure everyone that the decision was Danny’s, we did not want him to leave.

 

An approach was made by Margate, Danny wanted to speak to them, which he did, he then requested the move.

 

Margate is currently two places off the Drop Zone.

Sad news to read for a player who, in my opinion had quite a lot to offer the club.

yues...sadly there is little loyalty for past support in football and I suppose it can work both ways...nonetheless its surprised me especially after all the support the club gave him during his injury and the league position of the club that he has gone to...

 

ah well...thats footie...I also notice that justin's first signing at fisher was that other well known purveryor of long servitude.. fine arts and loyalty... mr steve west....

Very disapointing.............just as we were getting back to a full strength squad as well! There seems to be quite a movement of 'named' strikers at the moment, will we be involving ourselves in the merry go round I wonder?!

I'm not too suprised that he's gone to be honest and as he was never one of my favourites I'm not too dissapointed either.

 

Even though you have to be greedy to be a striker I thought he over did it. I always felt the smell of a goal bonus seemed to overcome him when he was within 40 yards of the goal.

Well EW, we’re a little devoid in the striker dept at the moment, so we are looking to fill the void.

 

Unc...pehaps westy's move is part of a plan to increase his autograph collection

 

What we won't do though, is rush into anything. Tom has earned the right to compete for a permanent place, Ross is fit now and can play in there if we need him to.

 

So we'll look before we leap.

Danny's goals to games record for us was outstanding and he will be difficult to replace, however if someone wants to leave then in my view it is absolutely pointless keeping them.

 

We are a bit sparse up top now with only Nathan and Tom, although Ross and maybe Chris Bourne could play there if need be. How about Jermaine Beckford?

Firstly, IMHO, Hockton has been a quality player for us, the stats above bear this out. BUT, secondly, this season he hasn't quite seemed the same player. Whether this is because of his injury or Elders prescence, (or both) I don't know. Good luck to him.

Any news on the Nathan and Northampton Town front. That would be a big blow losing both of them. I guess its best to have plyers at the club who want to play for the club and I think Danny never really looked that sharp or fit this season but I always put it down to him coming back from injury. I'm sure that losing Nathan would be a lot worse than whats happened. Maybe the change of management will make the team stronger in attitude as those who weren't really that worried about putting on the Ricky shirt will move on and we will be left with a team of players who wanna battle to get to the playoffs not for the pay cheque.

The loyalty thing does cut both ways of course, Danny could quite easily have decided he wanted to leave after we got relegated in his first season but he stayed on...

 

This season he and Nathan haven't worked well as a partnership, the only game they both scored in was Chelmsford in August, when Hockers started in the bench. Disappointed to see him go, but I don't think it's as big a blow as it might have been.

Yep he could have asked to move on, but as he was part of that team, I think it right that he stayed. Apart from that, he had just six weeks earlier negotiated a fee and new contract.
