Kentish Town Football Club

Recommended Posts

With the honourable exception of AWK and the guy from Hoddesdon who's name escapes me and your good self of course Rhodes, the clubs of all SSML fans who post on here are from PREMIER Division clubs as opposed to FIRST division clubs...is this another case of you missing the bleeding obvious?

hows the wind by the way?

Lato - Point taken but I disagree, there is some great stuff played in Division 1 such as our game with Brache Sparta earlier in the season (8-2) that had absolutely everything and people were coming up to me in their droves saying it was the best game they had ever seen. Surely this beats, for example, a 0-0 between London Colney and Tring where you should be handed a box of matchsticks with your programme when you go in.

I know I'm doing what you want, Rhodes, and helping to keep this thread alive, but "droves"? The attendance was 24 for god's sake. Please try and keep your hyperbole under control - or get a job with the Sun.

Well I counted that figure and submitted it to the league however I think each and every one of them approached me afterwards to offer their congratulations and say it was probably the best game they had ever witnessed. I don't exaggerate despite what you seem to think of me, afterall where are Kentish Town in the table after I said at our historic friendly in August that we would be the team to watch this season.

If you are the team to watch how come you have thelowest average attendance in Division One according to the excellent statistics provided by AWK

Lato - We had to go to Wembley that memorable night at extremely short notice and I did the deal with their Chairman the day before the game, therefore very few people would have known about it, indeed I was pleased with the crowd of 24 many of whom were from Brache Sparta. I think because we are widely known as the bedouins of non league football it doesn't do us any favours in the attendance department as people don't know where we're going to be from one moment to the next, that's probably why we're currently bottom of AWK's impressive statistic sheet.

It's a totally 'rebranded' Club now un-recognisable from last season when we were at Parkfield and the Chairman has brought in a number of hand picked individuals to get us out of Division 1 such as our former Nigerian International and UEFA 'A' qualified Coach, much of our success this season is down to him. We are not overly bothered about our disappointing attendances, at the end of the day it's the people's loss as they are missing out on watching some scintillating football played in a unique Brazil '70 style with the mentality of Leeds in the early 70's thrown in for good measure.

mentality of leeds of the early 70's so they foul anything that moves and complain like hell when anything goes against them?

And I thought you brought the Nigerian coach in

You weren't giving the credit to your Chairman when you wrote this (and another similar post that appears in the quote of the month poll). So was it you that brought Temile to Kentish Town or Gregg?

Potters Bar Town - Once again I think you are manipulating threads and changing the wording which is below the belt, even if I was responsible for bringing Clement to Kentish Town I wouldn't readily admit to it and take all the credit as we work as a team. Strangely enough the great man is mentioned in Gregg's programme notes for tomorrow which you might like to read:

GREGG HAZELGROVE - YOUR CHAIRMAN

I intend to make my programme notes fairly brief this afternoon and keep them to just the one page as I do not want to be accused of hogging the limelight in what is surely the Club’s finest hour in the twelve years Kentish Town Football Club have been in existence. I have often been called eccentric in a complimentary sense and I do not disagree with that statement as the majority of Football Club Chairmen are just that. If I can be compared with the Ken Bates’s and Doug Ellis’s of this World by the time I leave Kentish Town when handing over the reins to someone else then I will be a very happy man although that time is light years away and not until I witness my Club playing in the Football League itself will I step down as Chairman.

There is no prouder person on this planet at the moment and when I look at the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 table it fills me with pride and joy to see my team at the very summit looking down on the likes of Brimsdown Rovers, Stony Stratford Town, Ampthill Town and Hoddesdon Town, something that was beyond my wildest dreams less than two months ago before this 2006/2007 campaign got under way. Furthermore I have seen Kentish Town play this season at Hertford Town, Wembley FC, Wingate and Finchley, Biggleswade United and our own temporary home Hendon FC in just two months and this shows how far the Club has come in only twelve years since , if you read our history, two parents including our current Manager Frank Zanre founded the Club from something resembling an acorn.

I know that I mention him in every programme and it must be getting a little boring now for our avid readers however once again I have to pay tribute to our Coach Clement Temile who has produced miracles since he came to the Club. Clement has rubbed shoulders with individuals at the very highest level and only recently attended his UEFA ‘A’ Coaching licence with the likes of Roy Keane and Peter Beardsley, Keane then went straight on to take up the reins at Sunderland whereas Clement was persuaded to join Kentish Town. What does that tell you about our Club and what the future holds for all of us.

Enjoy this afternoon’s fixture and may the best team win.
