Haringey Borough Football Club

Recommended Posts

Infozone... you talk as if you what is happening down at Haringey personally, and what has been happening down there the last few years.

managers haven't 'Correctly motivated or positioned players?'

Many clubs do not do this any better then Haringey, fact is players win you games not tactics. At this level motivation must be from within, because its certainly not extrinsic.

And finally, save the budget for more experienced players, what budget is that then?

I stand by my orginial comments, i agree with "motivation must come from within", but some players lack in confidence even if they have the skill level to play and they require a certain level of man management to get the best out of them.

The budget (I wasnt talking about Haringey but clubs in general)have a limited budget and some players you may require will only play for a certain amount of money, it's about managing finances isnt it!

I have seen players paid and have shown no loyalty or will to win it is very annoying, all they ask after a match or training "Where's my pay" there are lot of players out there "unfound" who could play in the SSML and other non league divisions.

Lots of teams unless privately funded with bottomless pockets struggle to stay alive or are in debt.

Hope this has clarified your reply queries

Not exactly, previously you were talking much more specifically about Haringey.

At the end of the day the way a club is run from the top will effect long term success.

Players will be the main reason for results.

Managers will do their best with what they have at their disposal and will pick the players. However if they haven't got the finances (or whatever else) to bring in the players they want it is hardly their fault if the players picked still are not good enough.

The difference in budgets in the Spartan league (and many others) is huge, some teams will have no budget, others will have many hundreds!

Tactics can effect matches, and in tight evenly matched games they will have a bigger factor, but if one team has much better players then another tactics wont go too far, trust me!

Classic quote from Brian Clough "Players lose you games, not tactics. There's so much crap talked about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes."

Somes it up I think.

I did notice that a while back. Always loved that quote.

However regardless of the fact its at the bottom of everything you post I still wanted to use it in that 1 post, if thats ok with you? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

The post was actually aimed at Saf (not you) for his andy Johnson commment!

The biggest thing that effects matches is one side scoring more than the other. Therefore, every side should ensure that they have the best goalkeeper they can afford (or get hold of if they don't pay) in the first instance and then build the side up from the back.

Having a better goalkeeper is part of having a better side, as is having better defenders. At semi pro level there isn't really enough time for managers/coaches to do an awful lot on shape etc... yes it can help but again predominantly better players will already know what to do and will be better at it.

Going back to the Catchment topic that was spoken about yesterday, RE: Rhodes and Infozone i have had a thought, say Haringay did set up as a feeder club for Tottenham.....From under 8s up to the Sparten Midland Side, With the way that clubs take kids on at silly ages i.e 8 years old, any decent players that where brought up through the "haringay borough academy" would have been snapped up before they where 14 and so never sniff the turf at coles park, i am wondering if such a scheme was in place what would the benefits be for Haringay borough - Playing wise!!
