Surely all you we have to do,is give any new player a copy of the ETFC history from the Website, and post a few up in the dressing room.If players are not explained the club history, how are they meant to know?

Believe me, I have to agree with you on this one Lovely Stuff. That is exactly what we said on Sunday over my Birthday Lunch. That when a player signs for ETFC they should get a "potted history" of what ETFC is all about. I don't think that it would make them any more passionate about the club, but they need to know that the fans own the club and that is why the fans are so passionate about ETFC.

Err no .I don't think the man on the terrace has a voice ,He may have a vote but thats not a voice. Its the same old people that were in boardroom positions at southbury road, except for the scouser . Its the Inner circle that call the shots here not the person on the terrace. I only watch ETFC because of the location .I don't wish to be or have any interest to be a so called Co Owner .I'm just going to pay the £7 on the entry and thats it.

If you feel so strongly about these issues, why did you not put yourself up for election to the "BOARD" The man on the Terrace does have a voice if he/she wishes to do so. I know because I make myself very clear on certain issues & I am NOT a Board Member.

You may not be a board member as such but you are a member of the Inner circle . I'm just an ordinary fan and thats how I'd like it to stay. I only get to a dozen or so home games per season mostly night matches , so I doubt i Could do too much for for the club if I was to put myself forward . If I did I would want changes ,And I mean changes you wouldnt like ,such as the man who picks the team ,You know what I mean.

I am not a member of the "Inner Circle" I am just someone who does "STUFF" to get Home Games on & I also help in getting most of the Social Events we have up & running. The fact that I am the "JETS" Co-ordinator does not make me a member of the "Inner Circle" either.

I never have or would want to be a baord member,or have attended a Board Meeting, doing what I do is more than enough for me.

You never know you might have a contact or two that could help with the running of the club even though you don't have time, or feel that ypou want to be more involved other than being a supporter.

Sometimes it helps if you just attend a Race Night/Quiz Night or someething.

Much as I have my own issues re our board, you are wrong on that one. When ETFC was set up no previous board member of EFC was allowed to stand as a director of ETFC. The board were made up of the supporters society leadership. In time, the likes of Roy Butler were allowed to stand due to the huge amount of work and time (for no recompense) that he has put in around the ground. I believe that another former director John (can't remeber his surname) is assisting with getting sponsors but he was the one who gave all the critisism of Laz and spoke out to the papers. We all have a right to stand for election. If you don't have time to act as a director, you still have the right as a member to make your feelings known to directors on match days and at society meetings if you are a member.

Good post Out of Towner, "ordinary fan" indeed & we could do with a lot more of those through the gate.
As for the "changes" you suggest, I can only say.... OUT OF TOWNER FOR CHAIRMAN!!!

Lets be fair. The 'inner circle' do all the work and put in their own time for the love of the club.

And any of us could stand at election for the board, is we wanted too and had the time.

My only criticism of the 'circle' in the past has been the way they keep things close to their chest, when there is no need. And their seeming unwillingness to include the general fans into those 'in the know, and those not' and also their reticence to consult the ordinary fan more often.Even if its through this forum.

But we all appreciate the work they do.Without them there would be no club.

why should "ordinary fans" feel excluded from the inner circle? there are 12 board positions and 5 members of the circle!!!

So the only way the ordinary fan can recieve information that certain other selected fans are privy too, is to become a member of the board?

We don't want two tiers.Them and us.The board/The fans.Thats what a normal club is like, and why disaster struck at EFC and many other clubs recently.A supporters trust club means every fan is equal and as important as any other.Board memebers are voted in, to represent us.Not to keep every bit of news and imformation away from the people who elected them.

Don't agree with you LS. There are some subjects that must be kept to a limited distribution - for instance progress / options re a ground for the club within the borough. You simply can't have confidential plans like that published freely on a forum like this. However as soon as tangible decisions are made by all relevant parties, then of course the info should immediately be placed in the public domain.

Ditto to that, there defianately are some things that need to be kept quiet until they are finalised, not that I would know what they are though, apart from what Half Time Refreshments the players/Fans/Boardroom gets!!!

I've no problem with sensitive information being kept confidential by our board,IF revealing it could hinder or affect our future progress. What i don't like is some ordinary fans being involved in any 'loop' whilst the rest of us are kept in the dark.

Also a few board members seems to revel in the power of holding secret information. And revealing snippets of info to the masses, when they see fit.

By and large the board do a superb job.I'm just highlighting the one or two areas where things could be improved.

Spot on Lovely Stuff , I just read a post on EFC forum .They had a fans forum with their board on saturday after their game . The BIG question is why dont we do something like this ,So our fans can ask questions of the inner circle and get some proper answers instead of hearing rumours & bull etc ?.
