Robinson sending off

Well played Gravesend, we didnt deserve anything from the game, but the turning point was obviously the sending off and penalty. Couldnt see what happened from the away end, but apparently Robinson is claiming that he headed the ball and didnt use his hand. If so, the manager will appeal (although Id rather we did without Robinson as he is our worst player!).

Would be interested to know the views of you guys - was it handball or not?

Looked a dead cert handball to me.....but that was in real time & no benefit of replays ! ( not that that would help !! ). So, initial reaction was handball on the line ( or near thereto ), and a penalty & a red card was the correct decision ! If TV replays prove me wrong then I apologise, but that was how I saw it from behind the goal.

Cheers,

Thought the ref and the baseball hatted lino were quite poor today - ref seemed to give more benefit to Cambridge than they deserved , but we always get those refs don't we ? The only answer is to keep showing this league we are no p*ssies , and the more clean sheets and victories we get will certainly help us . Bring on the Staffs ! Come on U Reds !

Robinson was the left back wasn't he? didn't look too bad to me.

I was a long way from the incident and couldn't see what happened but from the players and crowd reaction I'm guessing it was handball, obviously we are all biased but everyone at that end all went up together along with our players and the ref didn't hesitate.

Your keeper made a few excellent saves especially the one from Slatter in the second half and your supporters were the loudest we have had at Stonebridge road for a while

Yep, Robinson is the left back - he is better going forward than defending and is totally one footed. Crichton did well in goal today but Morrison (number 21) was our best player today and we will do well to hang onto him. We created very little today which was a big disappointment after our recent games.

I thought that we were pretty quiet today, an open terrace doesnt help, but usually we sing for the whole game.

You looked one of the better teams we have played this season and I wouldnt be surprised to see you in the play-offs at the end of the season.

If Robinson did handball it then he had to go, just a little surprised that he told his manager that he headed it when the video will show for sure.

See you at the Abbey later in the season.

Certainly there in decent numbers, which makes the home attendance once again woeful. But then we've exhausted that subject...

it looked handball from the halfway line. i think the ball was going too fast for him to get that much head on it to clear and the ref did blow straight away and seemed pretty sure.

With regards the ref - i couldnt understand the Charlie booking when there players were kicking it away all the time.

At the time (looking through the viewfinder) I thought he had definitely headed it off the line, but having now looked at the footage and slowed it down frame by frame, he definitely had his arms up in front of his face.
The ball was travelling so fast though, that it's impossible to tell whether it hit him on the arm as well as (or instead of) it hitting him on the head.

What I would say though is that the Referee had a perfect view of it.

I would have had a much better view of that particular incident had the gantry been on the other side of the pitch....but then we don't have multi-camera shoots at Gravesend !

It'll be on Conference TV later in the week.

From where I was standing when I return to Stonebridge Road, it was impossible to tell, all you can say is that the Ref for on the spot and made the decision straight away, and once he had given that penalty, he had no choice but to send the player off. I think ref standards are dropping at all levels, I offer the performance of Mark 'Arsenal' Clattenburg as evidence!!! :-)

I thought it was a clear handball but Robinson did a sterling impression that it hit his head. No way in my opinion.

I thought that it was one of the best performances this season (as well as Grays) and am getting a bit caught up in the fact that we're doing so well at the moment, I'm contemplating making the trip to Nigel's Burton.

I think that this is the best side I have seen at the Fleet.

We're so reaping the benefit of being full time.

However, I have been at work since 6 and have only had about two hours sleep after getting out of a club about half two so that may be a factor in my somewhat joyous wafflings!

Let's thump Stafford and keep it going!

That would have been an amazing clearance with head or hand. To get the ball over the bar from inside the goal?

It was a definate handball, and a save alot of keepers would have been proud of.

If Luke(or was it Charlie?) had not appear to mishit their shot, I doubt we would be having this debate now.

Whilst it appeared to have a material effect on the result, who is to say we wouldnt have grabbed a goal subsequently anyway?

Ultimately,as we all know, the refs decision is final & he could only call it as he saw it. DEspite what has been suggested in one or two other places, I thought the ref had a decent enough game overall - the 2 bookings were unavoidable - Charlie gave the ref no option by kicking the ball away (& come to that was pushing his luck by continuing to argue the matter with the ref afterwards) and their guys foul on Sacha was a clear yellow as well. AS the ref deemed that Robinson handled, he had to go.
