Boxing Day

I know it is a while off but this is our first ever Boxing Day with a game. Can someone please confirm the kick off time for the Arelesy game? Personally I would prefer an 11.00am kick off so people can enjoy the game and then get back to family gatherings or the pub. Just my preference and I am sure others will want something different.

I think an evening kick-off would be the best bet, no other footie so bigger crowd.

Nope. However, when you have a footy match and a big nosh up at the olds with loads of free booze all on the same day, one tends to be greedy and want to do both!! Now I am sure you will all agree on that one! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon29.gif" alt="" />

I recall midweek games kicking off at 7.30 as a rule.

The statto's or very old among you might know this (or recall it, as applicable) - I believe that the 3pm kick off is relatively recent, dating only from when floodlights became the norm, presumably in the late 50's. Prior to this, kick offs were at 2pm I think. Anyone able to confirm or pooh pooh this?

Having said that, it's been 3pm for as long I remember and should jolly well remain so, absolutely right.

Those were the days. The 7.30pm starts were great. Having said that, I would have missed the start of our game (YCFC) last night if we still kicked off at that time.

Originally Christmas matches all kicked off on December 25th!
