I agree Alex we were very good today. Proths just edges MOTM from Jay just for hi spectacular goal. What a hit! With that and the goal at Walton Proths is certainly going to be in the running for goal of the season. Well Done Blues! And as for R**sgate, <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" />

[color:"blue"]Good all round performance today, loved the long across the pitch wide balls that stretched their defence. Agree that Danny was off form today, that usually means we're going to be goal shy, but it wasn't the case - great efforts from Pinns & Lee Protheroe. Personally I'd like to have seen Bagley brought on for DH in the last 10-15 mins, as it'd give him some experience at this level.

Danny taken off for Bagley! Yes, I thought the same at the time Peter. Also Abbott off for Dolton wouldnt have hurt, well it could have hurt the opposition I reckon.

Dont get me wrong the team performance was very very good. But we've been here before to see it go astray next time out.Consistency from now on cant be stressed enough. However I am well happy with todays performance & obviously the result, well happy!

Onto part 2 Alan!!

Agree team outstanding today, Abbott as said had a great first half, Danny also did a lot of running at first but told us in bar after the game has had a hard week at work and felt physically shattered. Pinns his usual non stop running, Jimmy & Justin were superb on the left flank linking with each other. Mckimm & Proths dominated midfield I thought and Jay & James at back worked very well. Smith is looking more accomplished with every game too. Although I would still prefer to see Scott in goal Charlie did most things right to sometimes with a few bits of luck.

I see he wore the armband, and indeed did it total justice.

Class player.

But the whole team was a credit to the shirt today. Some lovely football, and Pinnock's goal - as soon as it reached his feet there was no place it was going but the back of the net, you could feel it. One of those spellbinding moments where you love football completely, the build-up as perfect as the final delivery.

Proth's goal was something else, perfectly hit, totally stunned their goalie as it sailed past him. Defence solid and determined. Midfield battles well won, forwards dangerous around the box, quality of the crosses in outstanding, accurate and sharp passing - you could not fault anyone's commitment.

The challenge now is to keep this kind of performance consistent, and do it again and again.

must admit when he 1st started out for us i wanted him off the pitch asap, but now he has proved to me and everyone that he is a very clever and taticle player , he watches and reads the game for the whole 90mins pulling players away to create gaps for us to pass through and he will never give up on trying to win a ball as he showed today , i think his game has improved 100% since Jay came back so onwards & upwards now .Up The Gate.

Thrilled with the three points that puts us right in the mix again. Its obvious the lads are playing with confidence at the moment. Jay and Steve were great doing the dirty work and winning the ball for some great crossfield moves. Skins and Jacko worked ever so well. Proths played well and his goal was unbelievable. Danny and Pinns worked their arses off and deserved a goal each and Danny came so close but Pinns got his which was a good strike. A word about Abbo, although he wasnt out of this world there was improvement, he always looked to keep a move going and pass to a teammate rather than play a poor cross and lose possession as he has done in the past. Always kept the ball and when we can get it that far up the field and then knock it about just outside the box we look extremely dangerous. All it takes is for the ball to be worked to one of our great strikers of the ball and we have an excellent chance of scoring. Worked a treat. We totally dominated them and thats all credit to the team and management. Lets enjoy and look forward to next Saturday.

Have to agree more with seasidesteve's comments than Alex's from a Hampton perspective.

Obviously going down 1-0 so early was a poor start - and your 2nd goal was a classy strike (but no-one closed him down which is frustrating).

But we should have been 1-1 with Yaku missing a great chance when through on goal - lobbing the keeper but wrong side of the post.

Generally we were 2nd best in the first half - but vastly improved in the 2nd half but couldn't get past your very solid defence.

Same story as last week for us - quite a lot of possession but no end product - particularly from a lot of corners and free kicks.

Good luck till 27th Jan

Yep I am totally in agreement with that GW.

Proths totally dominated the midfield. Great ball control, distribution, and what a cracking goal. Nearly as good as his volley at Walton & H. MOM for me without a doubt.

Also thought McKimm played well, and I haven't been his biggest fan this season.

Jay at centre back gave us the balance we have been missing. What a versatile player: he was a bloody good striker a couple of weeks ago. Well deserving his player of the month title.

Assuming Saunders is not looking for a permanent move to centre back, Trotty must be looking for a mobile player in the style of Sappleton, as it is the one position we seem short of.

Donovan appeared a bit exposed I thought. He made a few good 'desperate last boot in' tackles, but also was clumsy and deserved his booking. His headed clearances were also below par. Having said that he looks a much better all-round defender than when he joined us.

Still I would prefer to see Trotty as the big centre back if fit.

To echo Gate Watcher, Skins and Jacko have a good understanding on the left. I particularly like the way they cover for each other.

On the right we are not quite so fluid. Agree Abbo got a few good passes in. However he also did a couple of mad runs into a crowd of defenders.

Smith impressed; seems less lightweight with each appearance. I noticed Proths had confidence in him, which says a lot. Nothing against Abbott, but I would like to see if Smith/Oates could do on the right what Skinner/Jackson do on the left. (PS anybody, can Dolton play right wing?)

Was Greg unfit or on baby duty or something?

Charlie has been a great servant to the club, but I for one could do without those heart-stopping moments like the one he fumbled onto the bar. How lucky was that, when it dropped back into his arms! Assume SCS not fully fit, otherwise how can you leave a back-to-back player of the month on the bench?

Pinns got a good one; would like to see him shoot more often. He plays deeper than DH and has a cracking shot - if Protheroe can do it, so can Pinns. There's plenty of dodgy keepers at this level. And how did Danny Hockton miss from there?

I totally agree with GW, the players did us proud, and all credit to the management team (please note, those who want the boss sacked every time we don't win).

A good programme, especially if produced under technical difficulties, but I do wish it didn't have those grey patches behind the writing, making it so difficult for us old geezers to read under the floodlights. Ditto the back page: nowhere to write the team changes (ok, sad statto old geezer).

I usually post after away games (in the hope that not too many people will be able to disagree with me) so it is interesting to see what everyone else thought about the game.

Totally enjoyed yesterdays game, great team performance.

True entertaining football, great goals, fluent passing and everyone working together to acheive the same goal.

Hockton should have been replaced near the end, would also prefer Scott in goal.

Lots of burger sauce and the chips were lovely,thanks everyone for making it a most enjoyable day. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />
